Busy person, I see you! You are so busy taking care of your spouse, children, house, job, yard, and church, weeks can go by in a blur! And you love it!

But are you taking care of yourself? My guess is, not as much as you need!

Lifting is … better than drugs

About those new weight-loss drugs. I know they can help people! But for me, those drugs must be a last resort. The body knows what it needs! And that’s to get stronger!

But those drugs also cause muscle loss. And now, the drug companies are making new drugs to fight the muscle loss. That’s a cycle that gets you nowhere.

This is not at all about shame, or willpower! Building muscle is the key to a healthier life, no matter your age, no matter your weight. No drug can deliver the benefits that come from lifting weights so stop looking for an easy fix.

At The Body Project, I help you succeed. I will teach you the healthy and sustainable way to lose weight, get stronger, eat better and feel confident as you do it.

I started online training with Brenda Gabbard at the beginning of the year desperate for a change.
Brenda was my trainer and coach nearly 10 years ago 😳🫣 during my bodybuilding competition prep.
I’m a busy mom, photographer and teacher and I’ve made so many excuses for taking care of myself. She helped design a diet and work out plan at home to accommodate my current schedule and I’m down 10 pounds in 8 weeks.
I haven’t been perfect in those 8 weeks due to illness but I feel great. For years I’ve had gut issues, in pain nearly every day. Since doing her program, my stomach has felt amazing. I cannot wait to keep moving forward and getting even stronger and healthier.

Lifting is … menopause management
Menopause, wow. Even as a fit and healthy woman that has trained 4 to 5 days a week consistently for the last 15 years, menopause kicked me in the glutes!

But I know that this passage would have been so much harder if I didn’t lift. And it’s not just me saying so! Loads of clinical research have shown that strength training smooths out menopause and guards against the body changes that follow menopause.

Recently, researchers in Spain reviewed the literature and found that no matter the stage of menopause, lifting strengthens a woman’s legs and pelvic floor, improves her bone density and stabilizes her metabolism.

Maybe the biggest relief of all, the study found that lifting can ease hot flashes!

Strength training alone doesn’t make menopause easier! Your doctor may recommend add-ons such as hormone replacement therapy. But at The Body Project, working out can make menopause a wonderful journey, one lift at a time.

Lifting is…the best weight control!

When you want to lose weight, you hear, “cardio, cardio, cardio”! But cardio exercise isn’t a magic pill and shouldn’t be your sole focus.

Don’t get me wrong -- cardio is valuable! But what really works long term is lifting weights.

A recent study from Iowa State University found that building muscle mass not only brings weight under control, it helps maintain weight loss for years. Lifting lowers the risk of obesity, which also lowers the risk of weight-driven diseases.

At The Body Project, I will teach you how to train your body properly and responsibly to reach your goals. For 15 years, I’ve been showing people how to take control of their bodies, but more important, they take control of their minds.

That’s not an empty promise! Building muscle prevents a lot of the bodily malfunction that causes disease. The science is clear!

Did you know: People who lift weights can cut the risk of Type 2 diabetes by 30%. Obese, sedentary adults who lift can reduce the risk of heart disease by a third. Lifting even knocks down cancer: A British study of 80,000 adults found that lifting at least twice a week can bring down the risk of death from cancer.
