Who is Sycamore Basketball Club?
Sycamore Basketball Club (SBC) is a non-profit, volunteer-led youth basketball organization serving boys and girls in the Sycamore Community School District.
Our mission is to provide Sycamore youth with the opportunity to learn, develop and grow through quality recreational and competitive basketball programs. SBC currently supports 600+ Sycamore students through our programs.
What programs does SBC offer?
SBC offers Recreational basketball for boys and girls in grades 2–6 and a more competitive Select program for boys and girls in grades 3–6.
Recreational is a great opportunity for players to learn the fundamentals, develop their skills and have fun playing basketball.
Select is designed for players who are looking for additional skill development, more practice time and a more competitive level of play. Select teams are formed through tryouts.
How big is the commitment?
Recreational teams practice once per week and play a 10-game regular season. Grades 3–6 also participate in an end-of-season tournament.
Select teams practice twice per week and play approximately 20 regular-season games, along with preseason and postseason tournaments. Select teams can expect a significantly greater overall time commitment than Recreational basketball.
When and where are the games?
Games typically begin in early December.
For 2nd grade Recreational teams, games are played against other Sycamore teams, with games held at Sycamore elementary school gyms on Friday evenings.
Depending on girls volume in 3rd grade this year, we may be able to offer 5v5 in the Cincinnati Premier Youth Basketball League (CPYBL- https://www.cpybl.com).
For 3rd–6th grade Recreational and Select teams, SBC participates in the CPYBL. Games are played at Sycamore gyms as well as gyms throughout the Cincinnati area.
When and where are practices?
Recreational teams generally practice one night per week, while Select teams practice two nights per week.
Practices are held at Sycamore School District gyms, including locations such as Symmes, Mapledale, Blue Ash, Montgomery, E.H. Greene and Sycamore Junior High.
Your coach will provide your team’s specific practice schedule and location.
What if my child tries out for Select and doesn’t make a team?
No worries! Players who try out for Select but are not selected for a Select team are automatically placed on a Recreational team.
Who can play?
Children in grades 2–6 who live within the Sycamore Community School District are eligible to participate.
