Steele Wrestling Makes Noise at STATE!
The Knights surged at the UIL State Wrestling Tournament, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate our Steele Knight wrestlers who earned a spot on the podium! 💪🔥
🥈 Asaiya Golphin – State Runner Up -
(190 lbs)
Asaiya battled through the bracket and finished with an absolute outstanding performance! The match went all 3 periods and 3 overtime periods in the championship match. Through the entire state tournament Asaiya earned 24 team points on the state’s biggest stage!
🏅 Cameron Hodge – 5th Place (110 lbs)
FRESHMAN - Cameron showed resilience and powerful determination all tournament long. Cameron pushed herself through every match and injury to take a spot on the podium. Finishing 5th in the state and earning 14 individual team points!
Vada Mccubbin (100 lbs)
FRESHMAN - Vada wrestled every match with a full heart and desire to do her very best and it showed! She may not have placed, but it is no small accomplishment to compete on day 2 of the state tournament.
Overall our girls placed 13th as a team out of 86 schools who competed at the state tournament.
Boys
Shawn Coffel (113 lbs)
SOPHOMORE - Shawn was our only boy who competed at state! He wrestled absolutely great all tournament and we could not be more proud. He has a desire to grow and lives to wrestle! The accomplishment of wrestling at the state tournament shows his dedication to the sport.
Competing at the UIL State Tournament is an incredible accomplishment — placing is even more special. These athletes represented Cibolo with heart, toughness, and pride.
We are so proud of you!
