We were all wondering who would come out for “Ski the Beach for Erin” this year with the unusually cold temperatures this year. I think the low was -17 the night before 🥶, but after the sun rose, it warmed up to above zero, single digits and possibly even 10 degrees!
Thankfully, Alaskans are a hardy breed and we had a large crowd of skiers who came out to ski for fun or race on a very clear, sunny day! With everyone dressed in colorful, tropical outfits over their warm clothes and smiles on their faces, it almost feel warm outside!

Certainly the atmosphere of the participants, the wonderful volunteers, the upbeat music and commentary by our MC, Johnathan Rameriz, the warming barrels outside (provided by Eagle River Parks & Recreation), and the cozy Beach Lake Chalet where families could get in, eat Great Harvest Bread cookies, and warm up, really helped make this annual event a fun and memorable one.
Here is a photo drop I took at the races, but we would all like to see photos others took as well. We would LOVE to see them posted in the comments below!!
Next photo dump coming soon will be awards pictures and recognition to soooo many great volunteers who helped out! This race couldn’t have happened without their help and we are all very grateful!! ❄️❤️❄️
