🚧 Pickleball Courts Update! 🚧

We know the Longyear Lake Pickleball Courts are looking close to finished, but hold off on grabbing your paddles just yet!

The Reason: The new surfacing requires a strict cure time before it can handle any foot traffic. Playing on them too early will ruin the brand-new surface.

The Timeline: There is still work left to be done, and a final completion date won't be set until early October.

Please stay off the courts until the city officially announces they are open. Thank you for your patience as we get these courts ready for you! 🎾🏓

🛝 Longyear Lake Projects Update!

It's been a busy summer of construction at Longyear Lake Park! Here is the latest on where things stand with our park revitalizations:

🎾 Pickleball & Basketball Courts
The courts are nearing completion! Please stay off these spaces until construction is officially finalized so the surfaces can cure properly. The target completion date remains September 25th, 2026.

🛹 Skatepark & Kiddie Pump Track (Phase 1)
Construction on Phase 1 is now set to begin at the end of September and will take roughly 4 weeks to complete throughout October.

The Bruce Mine Headframe in Chisholm, MN📍
Travelers using the ATV trails, mountain bike trails or the Mesabi trail may have passed this iconic structure or have seen it along the highway.
The Bruce Mine Headframe was once a mine shaft that would take iron miners down to the tunnels below, at least until open pit mining was put into practice.

This is one of the few left standing and now serves as a historic trailhead marker‼️

💰 $14.50–$17.00/hour | Temporary/Seasonal
Help supervise the Youth Center, support youth programming, maintain a safe and positive environment, and assist with activities and special events.

🏈 Youth Flag Football Coordinator/Coach
💰 $750 one-time payment | Temporary/Seasonal
Help lead a quality youth flag football program for boys and girls while teaching fundamentals, sportsmanship, teamwork, and participation.

Both positions require applicants to be at least 18 years old and meet the qualifications outlined in the job descriptions.

CSRP Final Week Highlights! ☀️🎉

What an incredible end to the Chisholm Summer Rec Program! Our summer season came to a close last week, and we went out with plenty of laughs, sweet treats, and unforgettable memories. Here is a quick look back at our final week:

• Senior Center Visit: Our kiddos spent quality time with friends at the Chisholm Senior Citizen Center, learning new arts and crafts, sharing snacks, and enjoying great visits across generations.🎨

• Pizza & Ice Cream Party: On our final day, camp was treated to a pizza feast courtesy of Jim’s Sports Club Bar & Grill and delicious ice cream desserts from Nette's Diner & Catering. Thank you both for fueling our last day! 🍕🍦

• First-Ever CSRP Staff Pieing: For the first time in CSRP history, every camper got to pie a staff member of their choice right in the face! The kids absolutely loved it—and this might just have to become a new annual tradition. 🥧😂

• End-of-Year Award Trip: We celebrated our grand finale with an awesome trip to Splash Town at Lake Ore-Be-Gone in Gilbert, MN! It was a fantastic day on the water obstacles to celebrate all the fun we had this season. 🌊

A huge thank you to all the kids, families, staff, and community partners who made this summer so special. We love seeing our returning campers as well as the new faces who join our CSRP family each year.

📢 WATER CONSERVATION NOTICE & SPLASHPAD CLOSURE 🚨

The City of Chisholm has been notified that the Western Lake Superior Watershed has entered the Drought Warning Response Phase under the Minnesota Statewide Drought Plan.

To comply with state guidelines and significantly reduce non-essential municipal water usage, the Chisholm Splashpad is closed until further notice.

We ask all residents and local businesses to help conserve water by voluntary limiting non-essential water use:

🚫 Restricting lawn and garden watering

🚫 Pausing vehicle washing at home

🚫 Minimizing golf course and park irrigation
