Still reminiscing on the 2026 Montana Angus Tour…

It’s hard to put into words just how special it was to welcome so many people to our place and have the opportunity to show our cattle, our program, and a little piece of our way of life here in North Central Montana.

When you look at where everyone traveled from, it makes it even more incredible.

From across the United States to across the world, we are incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to open our gates and share our cattle with so many fellow cattlemen, Angus breeders, friends, and industry professionals.

At the end of the day, this industry is about so much more than cattle. It’s about the people, the relationships, the conversations, and a shared passion for raising good livestock and continually making the Angus breed better.

To everyone who made the trip, stopped to visit, looked through the cattle, asked questions, and spent part of your Montana Angus Tour with us — thank you. We truly appreciate it more than you know.

We were proud to show you what we’ve been working toward here at Shipwheel Cattle Company, and we hope you enjoyed your time in the Bear Paws as much as we enjoyed having you.

We’ve managed to keep this one under wraps for quite a while, but come sale day, the secret is out. And trust us—you’re going to want to be there in person for this one.

Evaluation Day for Sale Bulls

We sort really, really hard here—not only when selecting which bulls make the sale, but also when evaluating the traits that matter within our program.

This is where we rank the calving ease, disposition, and front and hind foot scores you see in our catalog.

Feet matter greatly in our program. We pay very close attention to hoof quality throughout our herd and only use bulls we believe will improve hoof structure. In an industry where foot quality can sometimes be overlooked in the chase for bigger numbers, it remains a priority here.

And one thing we want to make very clear: NO ANIMAL HERE IS TRIMMED—EXCEPT OUR HORSES!

What you see is what you get. Any bull that shows signs of poor hoof structure is culled from our program. And if there is ever a foot problem with a bull purchased from us, we make it right.

We believe cattle should be built to last, and that starts from the ground up.

The Shipwheel family will never be the same. This beautiful roping, wrangling, nut-cutting cowgirl has been such a blessing to us. Emma, I would rather you here, but I believe you will be the angel riding with us on the north slopes of the Bear Paws when the wildflowers are in full bloom, the horses are fresh and the dogs are full of energy each spring. Until we meet again sweet girl.🤍🪽🌻🙏🏻
