CIF Southern Section Division 1 baseball brought Norco and Ayala together yesterday for a pool-play elimination matchup at Ayala High School.

Norco kept its playoff run alive with a 9-2 win, powered by a big third inning, a five-run seventh, and a complete-game effort from Jacob Melendez on the mound.

Ayala closed out a strong season with 24 wins and another deep postseason appearance.

Orange Lutheran outlasted Chino Hills 17-14 in a CIF-SS Division 1 second-round slugfest that ranks as the third-highest-scoring Division 1 game, or previous equivalent, in CIF Southern Section softball history.

The game featured 31 combined runs, 30 hits and six home runs, with both teams battling until the final inning.

The Ontario Tower Buzzers opened their six-game homestand against the Lake Elsinore Storm with a dramatic 10-inning win, highlighted by a strong rehab start from Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell.

But the first-place Storm answered back, taking the next five games to close out the series and remain on top of the California League South Division standings.

Chino Cowboys leading Don Lugo 4-2 in the bottom of the 6th inning. Raymond Sifuentes with bases loaded and one out with an 0-2 count hits a single to score two runs and extending their lead over Don Lugo 6-2. Chino would go on to win the game 7-2 and remain undefeated 12-0 in league play. The game was played at Morongo Field, home to the Angels Single A minor league affiliate Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

Chino keeps rolling ⚾️

A five-run sixth inning lifted the Cowboys to a 7-2 win over Don Lugo, staying perfect at 12-0 in Mount Baldy League play and improving to 15-2 overall.

Don Lugo’s David Rivera delivered a strong performance on the mound with 10 strikeouts, but Chino’s patience at the plate and timely hitting made the difference late.

Game was played at Morongo Field, home of the Angels Single A Affiliate, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
