This happened a couple weeks ago but I just realized I didn’t share it to our fishing friends.
Rocky and I share the fun and happy events of our lives on Facebook but we don’t share a lot of the personal stuff. However, if we can reach even one person, this will be worth it.
The moral of this story (and yes, the moral is coming first) is this…..if you have chest pains, GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM ASAP!!!
Rocky is 52 years old and for a couple months, he has been having spells of chest pains, nothing major, felt much more like indigestion or heartburn than anything else. But on Monday of last week, he had some pretty severe pains, shooting down both arms and also had some blurry vision. He still wouldn’t go to the ER but agreed to see the doctor on Tuesday. They ended up sending him to the hospital for a troponin level test. They called back Tuesday around 5 and told him to go to an ER immediately. We decided to go to Radford. He had no pains whatsoever on Tuesday and we really both thought nothing major was going on. It was late when we got there and so on Wednesday around lunchtime, they performed a heart cath. We all (doctor included) thought Rocky might have to have a stent or two. But 45 minutes into the procedure, they stopped and came to tell me that he needed a triple bypass (did I mention he’s 52 years old???). They transferred him to Roanoke Memorial Hospital to the Cardiovascular Center, where, on Friday morning, he underwent a QUADRUPLE bypass!! Per the surgeon, it was very routine and very successful.
I am so thankful to report that he was able to come home today and is well on the road to putting up with me for the next 30 years lol! If you’ve read this far, thank you and PLEASE, don’t be stubborn or downplay what could be extremely serious. I had one doctor tell me that Rocky should’ve left us last Monday and one doctor tell us that if he hadn’t come in to the hospital when he did, he probably wouldn’t have made it another 2 weeks! He still has a long road to complete recovery but we are thanking God that He still has a plan for Rocky’s life here on Earth, with us!
Take care of yourselves!
