Childress High School Bobcats Mashburn Event Center

This is Texas.

This is small town down home gritty Texas football.

The Childress Bobcats needed somewhere to practice.

So they found somewhere.

Beginning this year, Texas schools are required to follow UIL’s new Wet Bulb Globe Temperature guidelines. The purpose is important — keeping kids safe in the brutal Texas heat.

Not every football program has an air-conditioned turf field sitting behind the field house.

There are hundreds of small schools scattered across this state where coaches and administrators are going to have to figure it out.

And this is what “figuring it out” looked like in Childress.

Shoutout to all our rural educators and coaches figuring it out daily….

Even when it means going in the barn!!
