When people hear "mobility," they often picture advanced yoga poses or extreme flexibility.

That's not what we mean.

Mobility is your ability to move through your full range of motion with control. It's what lets you reach overhead without strain, bend down without bracing for impact, and turn your head to back out of a parking spot.

It's less about flexibility and more about how well your joints and muscles work together — and it's trainable at any age.

“Functional training” is one of those phrases that gets thrown around a lot in fitness — but what does it actually mean?

It means training movements, not just muscles.

Instead of isolating a single muscle and working it in one direction (the classic machine-gym approach), functional training focuses on the patterns your body actually uses in daily life: pushing, pulling, hinging, squatting, carrying, rotating.

The goal is to build transferable strength. Strength that helps you when you’re reaching for something on a high shelf, carrying groceries up stairs, or catching yourself before a fall.

Not all group fitness is the same.

There's a real difference between a high-energy class where you're following along in a crowd, and a small group session where a coach actually knows your name, watches your form, and adjusts the workout for what you need that day.

At TruFit Evanston, our group classes feel more like the second thing. Intentional, expert-led, and personal enough to matter.
