What’s so Comfy about our Fitness?

- We take out the intimidation factor. Comfy Fitness was inspired by recognizing that intimidation within the fitness industry makes health and fitness seem out of reach. Founded in 2008 by Kira Macoun and Carrie Drapac, Comfy Fitness welcomes all, regardless of shape, size, age, physical ability, exercise experience and goals.

- Affordability. In our 13 year

s of business we’ve weathered two once-in-a-lifetime recessions. (Get it?) We’ve struggled right alongside our clients as they’ve suffered financial hardships. Through this experience, we’ve always maintained competitive and often lower price points than far less experienced trainers.

- No pain, plenty of gain! After training hundreds of clients, we understand that all bodies have an injury and trauma history. And with that history often comes chronic pain and hopelessness around being able to live life fully. Comfy Fitness’ signature training methodology, partnered with embodied movement practices offers our clients a way out of pain and back into joyful, effortless movement.

Hey everyone! Meet Kristina! She's been working with Comfy Fitness as a Functional Fitness Trainer and Strength Coach (with a specialization in biomechanics) for over 10 years. In recent years she's been incorporating Somatic Movement in her coaching, and together we are developing a new way to feel and experience strength with our Somatic Strength offerings. This offers folks who have traditionally had barriers with their movement and exercise to work through it, coming out feeling stronger and more capable.

If this kind of movement sounds like something you could use, have I got news for you! There are limited slots available in her small group on Mondays at 9am CT. The session is online, so you can join from anywhere! If you have to miss, you can do the recording! Since the group caps at 5 members, you will receive the attention and the accountability you need to be successful. This once weekly session, expert eyes, and accountability can be yours for $150/month.

Here’s a testimonial (already!) from our daily morning practice that just started 2 days ago, Shadow Alchemy:

I signed up for Shadow Alchemy- a morning practice/ritual because both my bedtime and morning habits were abysmal- no routine bed or wake-up time, doom-scrolling on both ends of my day, etc. I’ve now completed two days of this and am getting so. Much. More. Out of my day and I’m doing it consciously.

Yesterday's morning practice - including a journal prompt and then some slow somatic movement - brought up some powerful emotions in me. ..I had to turn off my camera and cry for some reason, but as a woman of a certain age, I preferred that to random emotional outbursts throughout the day.

My bedtime hygiene took a turn as well. I washed my face. I flossed and used my water pick. I went to bed at a reasonable hour so I would be sure to make it to today’s practice. I played 1 -2hz binaural beats instead of watching facebook reels. I slept well.

If you are also suffering from ‘world on fire’ type daily distractions that are robbing you from being present and accomplishing much in a day, I highly recommend this short and practice to reset yourself. I can’t wait to see what else I learn about myself in the next 30 days.

Somatic movement works with the nervous system’s natural ability to adapt.

As we enter the Fire Horse year, this practice helps release outdated tension patterns so energy can move forward instead of looping back.

We will be practicing for 32 days together in an online community every morning to ground the transformation we know we're on the brink of.

Join us and experience change that becomes sustainable.

Somatic movement isn’t really like exercise. It’s a way of engaging with your nervous system. This engagement releases chronic tension, regulates stress, and returns you more fully to your body.

Join us for a grounding somatic practice this Sunday designed to:
• ease tension stored in the nervous system
• invite inner regulation and resilience
• support embodied awareness through movement

In our Somatic Shapeshifting workshop, you’ll explore TRE (tremoring) and inner alchemy tools that can help your system settle, breathe, and restore.

Perfect for beginners and seasoned shakers — no experience required.

In tonight's online Somatic Movement class we'll explore letting go of projection through our bodies. How do we soften the tension between what we expect and what is "supposed to be?"

Who are you in those moments? What does your body inform you in these moments?

If you'd like to join, reach out to Elliott to gain access.

Greater connection and clearer boundaries are available to us. We just need to practice!

There’s a thing that happens when you’ve worked with hundreds of bodies: you start to believe you can predict them. As a personal trainer, you're taught "this is the muscle group that does this movement.

At Comfy Fitness, among our clientele and our communities, we see it all the time: people who care deeply, but at the cost of their bodies, their clarity, and their boundaries. When empathy turns into self-abandonment, the body lets us know through tension, resentment, exhaustion, or pain.

This month in our Monday night somatic movement series, we're exploring Embodied Boundaries, starting with Empathy tonight at 7pm CT.

Here's an article describing how tuning more deeply into our bodies' signals regularly can help us use those signals to express boundaries clearly, responsibly, and as many times as necessary.

I’ve spent so much of my life desperately wanting to be liked. That meant saying “yes” when my whole body was screaming “no.

Most people think back pain starts in the back.

But the truth? It often begins in the front.

Hours of sitting compress our chest, round our shoulders, and leave our back straining to hold us upright. No wonder it aches.
In tonight’s Myth of Aging class, we’ll explore how opening the front body liberates the back to do its real job: standing us tall, supporting us with strength, and giving us freedom of movement.

We’ll also awaken the spiral lines—the body’s natural cross-connections that make walking and daily movement fluid and effortless.

The myth is that aging means stiffness and hunching. The truth is, your body is designed for ease.

Your body’s not broken—it’s responding.

“Tech neck” isn’t just a modern complaint. It’s a structural adaptation to how we live, work, and interact with the world. In our Monday night class through the month of August, you will be taught methods to release some of the root causes of neck and head tension—starting with the thoracic spine and shoulder blades.

The following weeks are Eyes & Jaw, Deep Front Lines, and Breath & Neck.

DM Kira Elliott if you're interested in joining.
