These improvements sparked enhancements that were unexpected in the best ways ✨

Tester and customer feedback has been instrumental in improving the Cari Pepper Spray Pocket, including:

1. Magnet ➡️ Velcro
The change I didn’t want to make but ended up having to because it was simply too good.
2. Creating a thinner elastic band solution
When an easy solution wasn’t there, we had to get crafty (literally!).
3. Going 🥇 soft

Okay but what about DV???

I talk about pepper spray A LOT. It’s now my go-to personal safety device (I used to carry pew pews while running), and I made the Cari Pepper Spray Pocket because I needed a better way to bring it on walks and runs in an accessible way.

But with some research, I found that the real risk for many women isn’t during their exercise - it’s in their homes.

So, is pepper spray recommended for people in DV situations?

YES! An amazing support person at National Domestic Violence Hotline told me it’s great for survivors to have it in hand or within reach.

The caveat we have data on is pepper spray is less effective on people who are impaired, on drugs / alcohol / rage.

Pepper spray should be treated as a tool in a greater, overall safety plan, not the one saving grace.

It sure seems like we’re being distracted on purpose. Because it’s statistically a whole lot less the guy on the street who is hurting a woman, and far greater chance it’s who she’s going home to.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT:

1. Choose your partner so. carefully.

2. Know what resources are available. Knowing ahead of time is so important in case someone you know shows signs of needing help, or if you end up needing help.

3. Get help if you’re going through something. 💕

You are safer in public than you think, which gives me more peace of mind when out and about.

Who you choose as a partner matters to your safety way more than most would guess.

I can’t control who will be at the park with us, but I can be prepared 💪 send to a mom friend!

I don’t usually post things like this, but I think it’s important to stay aware of a side of the world we don’t want to think about.

Does this make me paranoid? Nope. Just prepared. And by being prepared, I’m freed to truly enjoy my time at the park, rather than feeling defenseless. 🚫
