As we hit 3 weeks away from the 28th Annual Dan McGinnis Jr. Pioneer Wrestling Golf Outing, we’re continuing to recognize the alumni who helped build our program.

Today, we’re highlighting Jerome Reyes, Alleman Wrestling’s First State Champion.

1990: 3rd at State at 103 lbs. — 32-6
1991: State Champion at 103 lbs. — 25-1
2009 Alleman Hall of Fame Inductee for his achievements in wrestling, cross country, and track

As a Pioneer amongst Pioneers, Jerome’s accomplishments speak for themselves. However, the person he is today means just as much. He remains a great leader in our community and someone we’re proud to have on our wall.

Here’s a little highlight of his state championship match as we celebrate our history. We’re looking forward to reconnecting with our alumni on September 13. ❇️

As we near our 28th Annual Dan McGinnis Jr. Pioneer Wrestling Golf Outing, we wanted to recognize the integral name behind the event.

Dan McGinnis — Alleman Class of 1980

Dan was a standout wrestler at Alleman, finishing his senior season with a 25-5 record and placing 4th at the 1980 IHSA State Tournament at 119 pounds, competing in the big school division (2A).

He continued his wrestling career at SIU-Edwardsville, becoming an NCAA Division II All-American in 1985 with an 8th-place finish at 158 pounds. That season, Dan was also a critical piece to SIUE’s NCAA Division II National Championship Team.

Mr. McGinnis later spent 10 years coaching at Edwardsville High School, continuing his involvement in the sport well beyond his own competitive career.

We’re proud to have our Golf Outing named after a man such as Dan. We look forward to honoring his name on Sept 13, as well as many years to come.
