Struggle love is toxic to your business as a female CEO.
STRUGGLE LOVE —
Ya know, the harmful narrative that leads to burnout.
Most of the time when you hear about it, it’s gotta do with relationships. It’s essentially the narrative that says you gotta struggle with your partner. For example:
You met this guy. He doesn’t have a job. In fact, he’s a low-key bum. But he’s got big dreams, lots of aspirations. He’s gonna be a rapper… but he’s 45-years old and the chances of that happening, well boo — slim to nothin’! And you’re thinking you should stick with him because one day all this struggle is gonna pay off for you?!
That’s struggle love.
I’ve always seen this narrative, but it wasn’t until recently that I realized that it’s also showing up for business owners. Especially women who own businesses.
“I’m doing all these things… but I’m neglecting my health.”
“I’m doing all these things… but I’m scattered.”
“I’m doing all these things… and I’m seeing some incremental growth, but…”
Why do we stay in the struggle love? Why do we stay in the thought process of “I gotta hustle, I gotta grind” and forsake everything else?
I think it’s the trap of success.
There’s that saying, “The enemy of great is good.” (Good to Great by Jim Collins)
I think what sometimes happens when we stay in that place of struggle love, is that we have *some* success. As in, your revenue is growing.
But will you be alive spiritually, emotionally, hell — physically, to enjoy the fruits of your labor?!
We’ve gotta stop with the struggle love. We’ve gotta disconnect from it.
If you know that you’re in a space where you don’t have the clarity that you need to have, if the love affair with your business is fizzling or if it feels toxic, the struggle love is related to you.
