We’ve been building up to our 30-minute time trial for so many weeks - and today was the day! Athletes were challenged with holding the fastest maintainable pace for the entire duration without stopping. Congrats to everyone who showed up & left it all on the track today! 🔥🔂🏃‍♂️💨⌛️🚨💪✨👟🏁

This week we’re talking about ✨RPE✨ otherwise known as the Rate of Perceived Exertion, which is a subjective scale that you may use when you ask yourself “how hard do I feel like I’m working right now?”

It can be especially hard to determine this in the pool or open water when your heart rate monitor isn’t constantly visible, but it’s very important use this scale as guidance to prepare and train for your next race.

Check out Coach Todd’s recent blog: “How to Use RPE in your Swim Workouts” for a better idea on what each number may feel like to you!

It’s time to start up our Zone 2 Book Club again! We took a month off, but we are back and ready to run!

📍 8:00am at Olive and Oak (955 W. Webster Ave)
📍 The Book we will debrief during our run is “Martyr!” by Kaveh Akbar

Everyone is welcome, whether you finished the book, just started it, or didn’t get a chance to read it at all! We’ll kick things off with an easy 1 hour Zone 2 run, then head back to the café!

Our next Z2 Book Club run will be in September and is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 27, in which we will read “The Calamity Club” by Kathryn Stockett.

See you Sunday! 🤓📚🏃‍♀️ -Coach Whitney

We finished up our monthly group run this weekend with some incline work at Palmisano Park! Running hills are great for building endurance, especially in a predominantly flat city 🌆🌄🏃

Why even worry about the air quality when you can do a race simulation indoors! 😅

To continue our packed weekend of activities, we will be hosting a group ride on Sunday in St. Charles, starting at Alter Brewing! 🍻🍺

Details:
We will be rolling at 8am SHARP with 3 pace groups: 14-16 mph, 17-19 mph and 20+ mph. The route is an out and back course totalling 70 miles, but you have the opportunity to shorten the ride by turning around whenever you would like! There will be gas stations along the route, but always ensure you have enough fuel on the go 🍕

See you Sunday!
