27 SECONDS. WHAT A DEBUT.

Cristian Perez needed just twenty-seven seconds to win his UFC debut. On October 17 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, he knocked out Kyle Nelson in the opening round of their lightweight fight.

It was not a one-way start. Nelson landed a right hand that knocked Perez off balance. The newcomer answered with a combination, sent Nelson onto his back and followed with ground strikes to finish the fight.

Official result: Perez defeated Nelson by KO, Round 1, 0:27.

The 8forYou takeaway: “twenty-seven seconds” does not tell the whole story. Perez took a solid shot and immediately answered. It is an explosive beginning, but it does not yet tell us how he handles a longer fight at UFC level.

Who would you match Perez with for his second UFC fight?

• Finish rate among wins: 35.0%

KO/TKO wins, submission wins and finish percentages cover their full professional careers. UFC records are listed separately.

In an interview published October 18, Evloev said his first UFC title fight could also bring his first UFC finish. That is his ambition, not a guaranteed outcome.

The 8forYou takeaway: all ten of Evloev’s UFC victories came by decision. A lack of finishes does not mean a lack of effectiveness. The key question is whether Volkanovski can limit his control and impose his own pace.

Who is your pick: Volkanovski or Evloev — by decision or inside the distance?

TWELVE FINISHES. FOUR BONUSES. 💥

Twelve finishes in thirteen fights! UFC Edmonton, held on October 17, 2026, at Rogers Place, tied the modern UFC record.

Four Performance of the Night awards, worth $100,000 each:
🇨🇦 Mike Malott
🇨🇦 Marc-Andre Barriault
🇨🇦 Mandel Nallo
🇺🇸 Joel Faglier

A combined $400,000 for those four awards.

Faglier survived multiple first-round knockdowns before stopping Javad Mahjoub by TKO in the second. Barriault also overcame a difficult start and finished Kyle Daukaus before the opening round ended.

The 8forYou takeaway: with twelve finishes, winning inside the distance alone was not enough to make this list. Two of the four rewarded performances were comebacks.

Which of the four bonus-winning performances was your pick of the night?

MALOTT BREAKS THROUGH 🇨🇦

Five straight UFC wins for Mike Malott!

On October 17, 2026, at Rogers Place in Edmonton, the Canadian knocked out Joaquin Buckley in the main event. A knee connected with Buckley’s jaw, and a follow-up punch on the ground ended the sequence. The stoppage: Round 2, 2:32.

The 8forYou takeaway: Malott has added a major opponent to his winning streak. The next question is the level of his next test. He wants a top contender, but no next matchup has been announced.

Who from the TOP 10 should he face next?

🏆 JENA BISHOP WINS PFL GOLD! REVENGE IN CHICAGO 🇺🇸

Jena Bishop defeated Liz Carmouche by unanimous decision at PFL Chicago to become the inaugural PFL Women’s Flyweight World Champion.

🇺🇸 Jena Bishop vs 🇺🇸 Liz Carmouche
✅ Winner: Jena Bishop
📋 Method: unanimous decision
📊 Scores: 48–47, 48–47, 48–47
⏱ Distance: 5 rounds
📍 Wintrust Arena, Chicago | October 16, 2026

Carmouche came out firing in the opening round, but Bishop survived the early trouble. Her takedowns and ground control then helped turn the fight around.

Bishop avenged her third-round stoppage loss to Carmouche in the 2025 PFL tournament final. After 25 minutes this time, she left with the belt and a 12–3 record. Carmouche moves to 26–9.

🥊 The 8forYou take: Bishop survived the hardest moment and returned to her strongest weapon, grappling. All three 48–47 scorecards underline the narrow margin of victory.

What stood out more: Carmouche’s strong opening or Bishop’s grappling-led comeback?
