Need a summer reading rec? 📚
The Untethered Soul is one of our most recommended reads and required for Yoga Teacher Training!
"The Untethered Soul is not a book that just lands once. It lingers, unfolding in new ways each time you return to it. It offered me a beautiful new way of seeing the world, and unexpectedly, brought up a bit of grief along the way. It reveals how much of life is a journey into deeper self-understanding and appreciation, while also pointing to something more radical: that true liberation asks us to loosen our grip on everything we think, feel, and prefer.
These attachments—so subtle, so familiar—can quietly shape the boundaries of our experience. As a recovering people pleaser and a bonafide “helping spirit,” I began to see how much of my identity had been formed in relation to others. Part of my healing path ahead of finding the book was about defining and reclaiming unique parts of myself (my story, my voice) outside of that. So when I encountered this work, it felt daunting to imagine letting go of these newly uncovered and deeply cherished pieces of self.
And so I didn’t rush it. I put the book down. I integrated. I came back when I was ready.
That, to me, is part of the beauty of The Untethered Soul. It doesn’t demand that you drop everything all at once. It shows you that you can begin to unhook, gently and honestly, one strand at a time.
What stays with me is the practice the author, Micheal Singer, offers. Again and again, we are met with a choice—to close, or to stay open. And in choosing openness, even when it’s uncomfortable, there’s a sense of lightness… a quiet, expansive freedom where the heart can finally breathe, and possibility begins to unfold.
This is a book for anyone willing to let its message work on them. Not just to understand it, but to live it—to return to that choice, moment after moment, and discover what becomes possible when you do."
