Minister Racing

Yesterday the crew of Minister Racing finished what was my 9th Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac.

The crew sailed the boat to a comeback 2nd place line crossing...closing an over 7 mile deficit throughout a day and a night to our fierce competitor Erica. We also placed near the top of the overall standings which is impressive for the overall 40 year old design of our boat.

I am proud of how this team came together, spent 18 hours "fighting back", weathered storms and encouraged our first time Mac teammate Emily Ettie to "enjoy the ride".

Next year we will try again. In the meantime we had an "insightful race", we learned a lot about ourselves and about our competition.

Team Minister Racing, nice job on a great race, keep your heads high because you deserve it.

Boat work is in full gear! Minister will be ready to launch in a few weeks.. Alex and I fixed our stern pulpit repair and finished the fairing work in the head, Nancy and Jim got our winches all cleaned up and Cindy and Hannah serviced the mast!

Minister placed third in the 2022 Sheldon Clark Regatta hosted by Chicago Yacht Club. It was a sporty day with winds consistently in the high teens and regularly to 22-24 KTS.

We had a great day on the water and we were happy to have Mike Schroff onboard coaching our ex*****on.

Another shifty day today but we put what we learned to use. 1st around the mark on the one and only race and a 5th place finish amongst some great competitors. Looking forward to more racing tomorrow!

All the fiberglass work is done! Our aft pulpit has new backing plates bonded in and we redid the rudder post to top sides joint, the original work from the factory left a lot to be desired!

Nancy and Hannah serviced the mast and got her shiny like new.

Not pictured is all the work to wash and wax the topsides by Cindy, Hannah and Alex!

We're getting close to launch!

Minister's new bottom has turned the corner!Today we painted the first coat of barrier, two more to go during the week this week, and she'll get her new anti-fouling paint next Sunday! Thanks to everyone who has helped us get her ready for the 2022 season!
