We are so sad to say (so much so that it’s taken us almost a week to post)… Symmetry Chicago has permanently ceased operations due to Covid-19 and the state of affairs. We have enjoyed serving the River North community since 2005, with the last 5+ years in our Huron Street home. To say we will miss our members (especially our long time ones who harken back to the Ontario Street days) is an absolute understatement. Please know, we tried our very best as a small business, but given the enduring pandemic and its long lasting effects, suffice to say, we’ve come to the end of our line. We believe that all active members and clients were notified in advance, but should you require anything further, please feel free to reach out to: [email protected].

Thank you to our trainers, clients & members for their continued support of Symmetry; we’ve been thrilled to welcome our long standing members back and have met some really wonderful new neighbors since we re-opened! Happy to report that we are now able to open earlier on Saturdays for your weekend morning workouts... so, we’ll see you earlier at the bar this weekend. Current Symmetry hours are M-F 7 am - 5:30 pm, Saturdays 8 am - 2 pm, & a limited amount of evening and weekend afternoon gym buyout time is available. Please remember to view our posted guidelines & conditions before workout as is required during Phase 4 operations.

• —> Despite the fact that yeah, I had full access to my own gym during quarantine, the stress of everything and watching my friends and colleagues lose businesses and livelihoods had me pretty down & so I slacked badly. I’m only human :). But here I am this past weekend, doing my best to get back into the groove... I ♥️ back day!

Yep, it’s been much too long... we look forward to re-opening Symmetry’s doors this Monday, June 29th, to membership and guest workouts!

Limited Re-Opening Hours During Phase 4:

Mon–Fri: 7am-5:30pm
Sat: 10am to 2pm
Sun: Temporarily Closed

We’ve still got a couple weekday late afternoon/early evening and Saturday morning hourly buyouts still available, so if you’ve ever wanted to workout in a fully stocked gym all by yourself (or with your best workout buddy), it’s all yours! It’s a bit lonelier without our beloved members, but it sure felt good to get our trainers and their clients back in the door today! Thank you all for your cooperation as we safely move forward in Phase 3... it was amazing to get the lights on and the equipment back to use. Oh Alice, you need not fret too much more... just a few more days, and the lights will be back on!

GREAT NEWS: We received the formal green light advising that the City of Chicago will be permitting fitness centers to re-open on June 3, 2020, subject to certain conditions and limitations. However and unfortunately, during the initial portion of Phase 3, membership and guest pass use of the gym is NOT permitted; only one-on-one personal training will be allowed on site during initial Phase 3 operations. Please know that as soon as we are permitted to open to general membership, we will absolutely do so! If you are a member and wish to workout with one of Symmetry's trainers until we are able to re-open to general membership, simply email [email protected] and she will look to make a tailored referral.
Personal trainers may train their clients, subject to the conditions emailed previously, from 7am to 4pm weekdays (temporarily no evening or weekend hours for training). As is required, our reopening & operations are strictly conditioned on certain “Restore Illinois” Guidelines, which have been emailed to all trainers and personal training clients... if you have not received, simply PM us and Char will reach out to you!

We are so thrilled to be taking this next step, and are keeping our fingers crossed for an anticipated opening to members down the line... stay healthy, Chicago!

So we have good news and we have bad news... The good news is that the State of Illinois will be permitting fitness centers and gyms to re-open in Phase 3, the confirmed opening/start date of which we are currently awaiting from the Mayor’s Office, but it should be very soon in June. As soon as we are made aware of our permitted re-opening date, we will definitely let you know!
The somewhat bad news is that Symmetry will be able to open at first solely for one-on-one personal training at limited hours, and NOT for membership or guest pass use. Accordingly, our members and guest pass holders will NOT be able use Symmetry's space in the early part of Phase 3. It is anticipated that later, general membership/guest pass use may resume. However, we don't currently have a date for re-opening for general membership or guest pass use.

WE UNDERSTAND THAT MANY OF YOU ARE LITERALLY DYING TO GET BACK TO THE GYM, SO WE MAY HAVE A WORKAROUND THAT WILL GET YOU YOUR WORKOUTS... HAVEN'T YOU EVER WANTED TO OWN YOUR OWN GYM OR HAVE THE GYM TO YOURSELF? After giving it great thought, we would be happy to offer a limited number of hourly reserved "buyouts" of Symmetry's space (for single use or for a living together couple) starting in Phase 3 operations/upon re-opening of the gym. Such a buyout would guarantee your exclusive use of the gym on a given day/hour (standing appointments will be considered) and would come with the added amenity of a pre- and post-workout cleaning/sanitation of the equipment. In essence, Symmetry would be all yours for the one hour or so reserved (evenings and weekend availability at first)! The "exclusivity" of your use of Symmetry and its equipment in this regard would come at a premium, given the blocking out of time and and commitment and labor necessary to sanitize for your exclusive use; accordingly, we would request serious inquiries only.
