Chicago Challenger Little League

Chicago Challenger Little League Connecting baseball with special needs kids in Chicago In a Challenger game, each player bats and plays the field each inning.

The Challenger Division is a division of Little League for boys and girls with physical and mental challenges, ages 4 – 18 (or up to age 22 if still enrolled in high school) to enjoy the game of baseball. No score is kept during Challenger games, but rather the focus is on player interaction and skill development – both physical and interpersonal. That said, we still get competitive with players c

ompeting against their best selves. As some players need assistance to participate, personal coaches called buddies are available to all players. Buddies help the player bat, field, run the bases, stay safe on the field, and learn the fundamentals of the game. The goal for the Chicago Little League is to ensure that each player has the opportunity to increase their knowledge and skill of the game, while having fun and being part of the team.

On behalf of the Chicago Challengers we would like to thank and recognize Executive Construction for their amazing and generous donation to our team this year. When new board member Lee Robinson joined this year he asked “What do you need?” We explained that we needed donations in order to avoid raising the registration fee, but still have the ability to provide our kids with medals, trophies, celebrations, and nicer uniforms. As a special needs mom myself I know how the family budget is due to deductibles, copays and medical equipment. When Executive Construction heard of our team and cause they immediately provided us with the necessary donation to make this happen. Executive Construction we can’t thank you enough. Because of your generous donation we were able to meet our goal for the season. We were able to buy some new equipment, provide the kids their well deserved trophies/medals and more than anything we were able to make our kids happy. Thank you Executive Construction for your donation and support of our team!!!

The Chicago Challengers Little League will like to give a special recognition/thank you to Meghann Carlile, M.S., CCC-SLP from Carlile Speech Therapy center for your amazing support and care to our players and families during this baseball season. Meghann is a Speech Language Pathologist that has been volunteering her spare time every Sunday during this fall ball season. When Meghann heard from Amy about the Chicago Challengers baseball team she immediately wanted to volunteer as a buddy as well. Since then she has been at every game and has been a tremendous help to our players AND coaches. Meghann joined our Challengers family during a very busy/chaotic day/game and without very much direction from our coaches immediately stepped in and filled in the gaps where needed. She connects with our players so easily and is able to provide them the care and guidance needed during every game. Meghann your care, dedication and devotion in your field shows on our field at every game. We thank you so much for all that you do. If you or anyone you know is in need of pediatric speech therapy services that could be delivered at home, daycare, school or virtually please know that a special needs mom highly recommends anyone from the Carlile Speech Therapy center.

The Chicago Challengers will like to give a special thank you/shout out to Amy Lindsay, M.S., CCC-SLP who has been volunteering as a buddy on her SPARE time every Sunday for the past 2 seasons. Amy is a Speech Language Pathologist and has been a tremendous help to our team every Sunday. Amy came to know about our team on a random Sunday while she was jogging by our field during one of our games. She found our contact information and immediately offered to volunteer. Since then she has shown so much dedication to our players and team. She has been able to connect with our kids on the field and has provided them with comfort and care during our games. Our kids gravitate towards her so easily. Amy your care and devotion shows at every game and does not go unnoticed. On behalf of the Challengers family we thank you. If anyone is ever in need of speech services please know she comes highly recommended from a special needs mom.

On behalf of the Chicago Challengers Baseball team we would like to thank and recognize Irving Park Pizza & Patio for providing our players with hot delicious pizza on multiple occasions for the past 3 years. When Scott heard that our baseball team was for children with special needs he immediately offered to help in any way he could. When I asked if there was any way they could get pizzas to our players and families for a post game celebration at 11:15 AM on a Sunday , he made special arrangements with his staff in order to make this happen and has delivered all the pizzas himself just to make this happen for our team. Since then Irving Park Pizza and Patio has become our go to pizza supplier for all of our team celebrations. Irving Park Pizza and Patio we can’t thank you enough for not only supplying us with your delicious pizza’s, but for bringing so much joy to our kids and families. Thank you so much for your kindness and support to our Challengers family. Here’s an awesome video of the owner throwing out the first pitch on our last game. Please help support this awesome establishment!!! They have AMAZING FOOD and DRINKS. All the new items on their menu are delicious and still include all the classics.
