One of the most powerful shifts we can make is surprisingly simple.

To stop treating our calling like it's somewhere in the future.

You're not writing so that one day you can call yourself an author.

You're writing because you are one.

You're not building a business so that one day you'll become a CEO.

You already are.

The question isn't who you'll be after the book is published, the business grows, or the audience finds you.

The question is whether you'll lead, create, and make decisions from the truth of who you already are.

That conversation has been on my mind a lot, especially while writing The Download. It's an exploration of how we become more available to the ideas, insight, and breakthroughs that move our lives forward.

What if the biggest thing standing between you and your book isn't your writing?

Or your time.

Or even your confidence.

What if it's the identity you've been carrying?

There's a fascinating concept in psychology called enclothed cognition. Researchers have found that what we wear can influence the way we think and perform. But I believe the same is true of the identity we "put on" every day.

If you keep telling yourself, I'm not a writer.

I'm not an author.

Who would read my story?

Your brain will look for evidence that those beliefs are true.

In The Download, I write about how our brains are constantly filtering information based on what we believe is possible. Change the story you tell yourself, and you begin to notice new opportunities, greater creativity, and ideas that were there all along, waiting for you to see them.

Every bestselling author started as someone who had never published a book.

The difference wasn't talent.

It was the decision to step into a new identity before the evidence existed.

Don't wait until your book is finished to believe you're an author.

How many books have stayed unwritten because someone was waiting to feel ready?

Ready is a beautiful feeling. It's just not a requirement.

If I'm honest, there have been moments before every one of my books when I wondered if I was truly ready. Before my first book. Before speaking on bigger stages. Even before my latest book, The Download. The doubts don't magically disappear simply because you've done it before.

Every author I've worked with has had that same moment.

Who am I to write this?
What if I'm not enough?
What if no one wants to read it?

The women who become bestselling authors aren't the ones who never experience those questions. They're the ones who decide that their message matters more than their fear.

A book isn't written because confidence suddenly arrives one morning. Confidence is built one page, one chapter, one courageous writing session at a time.

If there's a message you can't stop thinking about... if you've felt that persistent nudge that your story could encourage, teach, or transform someone else... perhaps the next step isn't to wait until you're ready.

Perhaps it's simply to write the first paragraph.

You don't have to see the whole path. You only have to be willing to take the first step.
