I am seeing so many patellar dislocations right now! And believe it or not, this is one of the joints that actually can be relocated relatively simply by the person being affected. as always, this is not direct medical advice so make sure to check with the medical provider if you are having symptoms or concerns, but for a known patella dislocation, this is a simple technique that can relocate the patella, significantly improve symptoms and possibly avoid emergency room care.

NO OKLAHOMA DRILL! This has been BANNED at almost level of football because it is such a high risk for injury. And it is especially risky in these young kids with developing brains and weak neck muscles. This is irresponsible and unfortunately spread on social media for being funny. Please share this reel. We want more parents and coaches knowing this is NOT ok.

Games are easy. Practices are hard. But here’s the truth: more games and fewer practices are hurting our kids. 🏀💔 We’re seeing more injuries, less skill development, and athletes reaching higher levels without the foundation they need. Parents, coaches: let’s flip the script. Prioritize practices. Build skills. Prevent burnout. 💬 Tag a parent or coach who needs to hear this. Together, we can create a better youth sports experience. 💙

Does specializing your kid in one sport early actually give them an edge? The research says it is more complicated than it looks.

A 2022 meta-analysis of 51 studies found that athletes who reached world class level played more sports as kids and specialized later than athletes who topped out nationally.

A 2025 review in Science found the same pattern outside of sports too, across music, chess, and even Nobel laureates. Worth noting: this is observational research, not a randomized trial, so it shows patterns, not guarantees for any one kid. But the consistency across so many fields is hard to ignore.

Add in the injury and burnout risk tied to early specialization (DiFiori et al., 2014), and the case for multi-sport play gets even stronger.

Save this for the parent on the fence about signing up for "just one more season" of the same sport.

Sports are supposed to bring us together, not tear us apart. Watching two of the greatest athletes in their sports get heckled by fans during incredible moments of competition was a gut punch. It made me stop and think....have we lost perspective on what sports are really about? have figured this out and struck a chord within all of us. Nobody treats the players like I saw I TV yesterday. No matter who you are rooting for, you are there to enjoy and support. It is FUN. In my house, we have a rule: we don’t boo. We don’t tear others down. We cheer hard for our team, but we respect the effort and humanity of the other side. Let’s bring the joy back to sports. Let’s make it fun again. If you’re with me, hit that like button. Together, we can change the game. 💙 (Forgive the longwinded video. This one hit hard and I needed to let it out)

Why do I do this? Because sports are the best. Period. 🙌 They’re good for your body, your mind, your friendships, and your ability to work as a team. But here’s the heartbreaking truth: up to 70% of kids quit sports by the time they’re 13. That’s not okay. As a sports medicine doctor, I’m here to say every kid deserves the chance to play sports. For fun, for fitness, for life. Whether they’re 5, 15, or beyond, sports should be accessible, affordable, and most importantly, enjoyable. I’m committed to working with local and national organizations to make this a reality. But I can’t do it alone. Let’s work together to keep kids playing, growing, and thriving through sports. 💙⚽️ What’s one thing you think we can do to make youth sports better? Drop your thoughts below. ⬇️

Ankle injuries happen, but knowing what to do can make all the difference. As a sports medicine physician, here’s what I recommend if your child rolls their ankle: 1️⃣ If they can’t put weight on it, rest and use crutches. 2️⃣ If the foot looks normal, skip the ER: ice, elevate, and compress instead. 3️⃣ Don’t forget gentle range of motion exercises to prevent stiffness. 4️⃣ After 3 days, if they still can’t bear weight, see a doctor. Rehab is key before returning to sports to avoid re-injury. Let’s keep our kids safe and thriving on the field! 💙 Parents, what’s your go-to for handling youth sports injuries? Drop your tips below! ⬇️ (This is not medical advice, for entertainment purposes only) Reel Credit:

Travel sports weekends: a rite of passage, but let’s keep it balanced. 🏆💙 As a former collegiate athlete and now a sports medicine physician, I get it. The late nights, missed plans, and endless tournaments...it’s all part of the journey. But here’s the thing: if you’re burning out as a parent, you’re not helping anyone, including your kids. Your kids will still grow, develop, and thrive even if you take a step back to breathe. If you can’t enjoy the moment and make these memories count, it’s time to reassess. Youth sports should be about joy, growth, and connection...not exhaustion. Let’s find the balance together. 💙 Parents, how do you stay present and balanced during the chaos of travel sports?
