Get to know the Golf Mob Fam

Who are you?
I am Jesse Hernandez also known as .hernz_golf

When did you catch the golf bug?
At the end of 2019 some friends and I took a trip to San Diego. I tagged along with a couple friends to play, this was my first time on a golf course. Like most other golfers when they start their journey, I was terrible. But the athlete and competitor in me couldn’t accept that so when I got back home I ordered a Strata set off Amazon and spent all my free time at the range grinding. Been addicted ever since. Shout out to the friends that got me started.

Do you play for score or memories?
I play for both competition and enjoyment. For a while, I got too caught up in taking golf seriously, obsessing over my score. It stopped being fun when I didn’t perform well. I had to remind myself that golf is about having a good time. I’m outdoors, in a peaceful, quiet setting, hanging out with friends. It’s about savoring the laughs, the drinks, the shanks, and the memories. While I still aim to beat my personal best each round, I focus on having fun and cherishing the moment. Golf is my therapy.

What’s one thing you would like to “Suck Less” at when it comes to golf?
Putting, lol. I need to spend more time on the green and less on the range. I’d probably be a pro (lol).

How would you describe your golf style? (Fashion sense)
Versatile. I feel like I can wear throw on anything and make it look good. I may not have full confidence to speak on camera but I do have confidence to wear anything. The streetwear look, casual, traditional…I’ll do it. But mostly, what’s comfortable, especially during these Fresno summers.

Who is in your Golf Mob?
My sisters…lol. The guys that are always there and supporting me. My Team USTM family. And all my local 559 golfers out here creating content and doing their thing to grow the game 🙌

Who are you?

Johnny Castellano () - Co-Founder of Broccoli Country Club ()

When did you catch the golf bug?

I’ve played golf since I was very young, but never on a team due to my commitment to soccer and basketball. When injuries piled up between those two sports, I decided to make golf my main focus.

Do you play for score or memories?

I’m always chasing competition on the course so score matters to me, but it’s the memories that keep me coming back. There is no outlet like a tee time with the boys.

What’s one thing you would like to “Suck Less” at when it comes to golf?

Inconsistency. I can play golf at a high level, but I can also at times look like a beginner. Golf takes so much focus and concentration. When your head is not all the way in it you end up with inconsistent strikes and ultimately inconsistent results.

How would you describe your golf style?

My golf attire adapts to the course I’m playing. At a country club or upscale course, I dress neat and buttoned up. At a laid-back course you might see me in shorts and a t-shirt untucked. Shoes and hats are also dependent on the course. There is one commonality though, I am always wearing Broccoli.

Who is in your Golf Mob?

My dad is the person who got me into golf, and still the person I’ve played the most golf with. We still tee it up often to this day. Over the last 5 years, the members of Broccoli Country Club have been my Golf Mob, even before it existed.

Took a trip to Michigan for the first time and did not disappoint. I will definitely be back.

Played at and Golf Resort in the Canadian Lakes area. I favored St Ives out of the 2 courses due to the wow factor of each hole and picturesque backdrops of the woodlands.
