University of Maryland Equestrian Team

Maryland Equestrian Team The Maryland Equestrian Team is a club sport at the University of Maryland. Our team is not just a competition team.

We compete as an equitation team in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) against other collegiate schools in our region. We offer weekly lessons at Springhill Stables with The Other Left LLC. Our coach is Astrid Dalley, the owner and trainer at Springhill Stables. She comes from a background in Equitation and Jumpers as a junior and continues to show in the hunters and jumpers as a pr

ofessional. Many of our members take weekly lessons to improve their riding and catch a break from the hectic college life. We hold social events on and off campus from fundraising at Maryland Basketball games to participating in clinics with hunter and equitation trainers in the area. Chloe Nguyen, President

Last week we officially finished our last lessons of the 2025-2026 school year. This year was filled with of new members, shows, lessons, community service, socials, and all things UMET! 🐢

Our final spotlight is shining on our sorta-senior Emma Foster! Emma is only a sophomore, but is continuing her degree in nursing school elsewhere! UMET is not gonna feel the same without her! We cannot wait to see what she achieves in her future!

Emma said her favorite UMET memory is as follows: “1st semester freshman year I was in a lesson with all upperclassmen and I was very nervous but they were all so welcoming!! Great way to be introduced to the team”

We love you Emma, and we’re sad we only had you on UMET for 2 years! Best wishes to everything in your future! 🦄

For our senior spotlight today, we’re focusing on Alli Flaherty! Allie has been a light on the team for the past 4 years and we are going to miss her dearly! However we cannot wait to see you thrive in vet school and beyond!

Alli said her favorite UMET memory is as follows: “All of the home shows with the team and going on a roadtrip to Kentucky my freshman year when Amanda was competing at Nationals!”

We love you Alli! We wish you the absolute best in anything and everything in your future!

Under our senior spotlight today is Allie Morgalia! We’ve had the joy to have Allie as a, showing and non-showing, member for 4 years! While watching her graduate is bittersweet, we are looking forward to seeing all that she accomplishes in her future!

Allie said her favorite UMET memory is as follows: “My favorite UMET memory is being able to get away from school each week and go to the barn with my friends and ride awesome Meadowbrook horses!”
