Deer Lakes Baseball Recap ⚾️
A full week last week across all levels—here’s everything that went down:

➡️ Varsity
Deer Lakes split with Ligonier Valley.
Game one didn’t go our way, falling 5-1. Lig capitalized early, pushing across two runs in the first after an error. Andrew Connelly battled on the mound, going 5.2 innings and allowing just two earned runs while striking out three. Offensively, A.J. Reiher drove in the lone run, with Eli Misera and Brady Plummer each collecting a hit.
The Lancers answered right back in game two with a 2-1 win. Brady Plummer set the tone on the mound, going 6.1 innings, allowing just one run while striking out seven. James Gall came in to close it out and secure the save. Eli Misera led the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 day and an RBI, while Charlie Cook added a hit and scored a run.

➡️ Junior Varsity
JV played two tight games this week.
Against Fox Chapel, Deer Lakes fell 3-1 in a game that stayed close throughout. Adam Duffy helped tie things up in the fourth with a double to center, but Fox Chapel answered in the bottom half to regain the lead. Duffy finished 1-for-2 with an RBI, while Jack Alcorn, Duffy, and Keaton Minnick each recorded a hit. Alcorn was active on the bases with two stolen bases. On the mound, Duffy started and Travis Carrozza took the loss, going three innings and allowing two runs (none earned) while striking out three.
The Lancers bounced back with a 4-2 win over Burrell. Tied at two in the fifth, Duffy came through again with a clutch double to drive in two and give Deer Lakes the lead. Earlier in the game, Lucas Svidron and Levi Beacom each drove in runs to help Deer Lakes take the lead in the third. Duffy was strong on the mound, going five innings, allowing just two runs (none earned) while striking out six. Carrozza came in to close it out and earn the save. Svidron led the way with two hits, while the team showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks.

A busy week for middle school with both a tough matchup and a big bounce-back win.
Deer Lakes fell to Avonworth 14-5 but showed fight early, taking a 3-2 lead after two innings. Declan Caraza led the offense with two RBIs and added two hits. The team showed strong discipline at the plate, drawing eight walks, with Brooks Robinson and Hunter Penk each working multiple walks. The defense also turned a double play. Avonworth pulled away late, but Deer Lakes kept competing.
The Lancers responded in a big way with a 13-3 win over North Hills. A huge third inning broke the game open, with Brooks Robinson, Hunter Penk, Declan Caraza, Dawson Blauch, and Austin Fletcher all contributing RBI hits. Fletcher led the team with four RBIs, while Caraza and Blauch each collected two hits. Graham Gallagher added three walks as the team totaled 11 walks on the day. Deer Lakes was aggressive on the bases with nine stolen bases, led by Gallagher, Blauch, and Caraza. Robinson got the start on the mound, going 4.1 innings and allowing three runs, while Penk came in relief to finish it off. The defense played clean, not committing a single error.
