🎓⚾ SENIOR SPOTLIGHT ⚾🎓

Garrett Waybright

A dedicated and steady presence on the field, Garrett has spent 14 years playing the game of baseball. Primarily holding it down at first base and on the mound, he’s been a piece of the Deer Lakes baseball puzzle for 4 years.

In addition to baseball, Garrett also competed in football, showing his commitment to Deer Lakes athletics.

His favorite baseball memory goes back to the beginning — a championship-winning bunt in 3rd grade little league, a moment that stuck with him and helped shape his love for the game.

Garrett brings personality to the team as well, highlighted by moments like unknowingly stealing Coach Snyder’s seeds at Mt. Pleasant. He credits Ethan Danner as the funniest teammate, while joking that it’s “probably me” when it comes to missing the bus.

If there’s one spot he’d rather avoid, Garrett will tell you it’s “wherever the pop-ups are.” And looking back on the last four years, he wouldn’t change a thing.

His advice to the younger players is simple:
“Turn n burn.”

After graduation, Garrett plans to attend Robert Morris University to study psychology before continuing on to law school.

Garrett has been a dependable part of the program, bringing consistency, toughness, and a great attitude every day.

🎓⚾ SENIOR SPOTLIGHT ⚾🎓

Eli Misera #28

A dedicated and versatile player, Eli has spent 11 years playing the game of baseball, contributing wherever he’s needed — from left field to the infield at 3rd and 2nd, and even right field. His ability to adapt and compete has made him a valuable part of the Deer Lakes program.

Outside of baseball, Eli also represented Deer Lakes in golf, showing his commitment as a multi-sport athlete.

His favorite baseball memory is a special one — hitting home runs on Father’s Day and his mom’s birthday, moments that made the game even more meaningful.

Eli brings personality to the team as well, with his funniest memory being getting ejected from a game, and he credits Garrett Waybright as the teammate who keeps everyone laughing.

Eli will you one position he’d rather avoid is pitcher, and if he could change one thing, he’d keep it simple — “my batting average.”

Eli looks to pass things on to Lucas Svidron and appreciates the energy AJ Reiher brings as the team’s hype man.

His advice to underclassmen is straightforward:
“Do everything with intent no matter what it is.”

After graduation, Eli plans to join an electricians union, taking his work ethic and determination into the next chapter.

Eli has been a steady and reliable presence for Deer Lakes Baseball, and his impact on the program is apparent.

🎓⚾ SENIOR SPOTLIGHT ⚾🎓

Luciano Mangieri #2

A true definition of consistency and versatility, Luciano has dedicated 14 years to the game of baseball. Known for doing whatever the team needs, he’s spent his career playing just about every position on the field.

A three-sport athlete at Deer Lakes, Luca has also competed in football and basketball, showing his commitment to his team year-round.

His favorite baseball memory — Myrtle Beach freshman year — is one that helped shape his high school experience and love for the game. Around the field, he’s known for keeping things light, whether it’s memories like “Cooz” or cracking up his teammates. His funniest teammate in his opinion is Brady Plummer.

When it comes to the game, Luca keeps it simple — he’ll play anywhere, though he’ll tell you pitcher is one spot he’d rather avoid. He leaves his legacy to Brady Plummer and the ability to inspire the team to Jackson Talik.

If there’s one thing he’d change looking back, he kept it honest — “my batting average.” A reflection of his drive to always improve.

After graduation, Luca plans to pursue a degree in civil engineering, taking the same work ethic and dedication into his future.

Luca has been a dependable and selfless teammate throughout his time in the program, and his presence will be missed.

Congratulations, Luciano, and best of luck in everything ahead! 💚⚾💛

Deer Lakes Baseball Recap ⚾️

A full week last week across all levels—here’s everything that went down:

➡️ Varsity

Deer Lakes split with Ligonier Valley.

Game one didn’t go our way, falling 5-1. Lig capitalized early, pushing across two runs in the first after an error. Andrew Connelly battled on the mound, going 5.2 innings and allowing just two earned runs while striking out three. Offensively, A.J. Reiher drove in the lone run, with Eli Misera and Brady Plummer each collecting a hit.

The Lancers answered right back in game two with a 2-1 win. Brady Plummer set the tone on the mound, going 6.1 innings, allowing just one run while striking out seven. James Gall came in to close it out and secure the save. Eli Misera led the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 day and an RBI, while Charlie Cook added a hit and scored a run.

➡️ Junior Varsity

JV played two tight games this week.

Against Fox Chapel, Deer Lakes fell 3-1 in a game that stayed close throughout. Adam Duffy helped tie things up in the fourth with a double to center, but Fox Chapel answered in the bottom half to regain the lead. Duffy finished 1-for-2 with an RBI, while Jack Alcorn, Duffy, and Keaton Minnick each recorded a hit. Alcorn was active on the bases with two stolen bases. On the mound, Duffy started and Travis Carrozza took the loss, going three innings and allowing two runs (none earned) while striking out three.

The Lancers bounced back with a 4-2 win over Burrell. Tied at two in the fifth, Duffy came through again with a clutch double to drive in two and give Deer Lakes the lead. Earlier in the game, Lucas Svidron and Levi Beacom each drove in runs to help Deer Lakes take the lead in the third. Duffy was strong on the mound, going five innings, allowing just two runs (none earned) while striking out six. Carrozza came in to close it out and earn the save. Svidron led the way with two hits, while the team showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks.

➡️ Middle School

A busy week for middle school with both a tough matchup and a big bounce-back win.

Deer Lakes fell to Avonworth 14-5 but showed fight early, taking a 3-2 lead after two innings. Declan Caraza led the offense with two RBIs and added two hits. The team showed strong discipline at the plate, drawing eight walks, with Brooks Robinson and Hunter Penk each working multiple walks. The defense also turned a double play. Avonworth pulled away late, but Deer Lakes kept competing.

The Lancers responded in a big way with a 13-3 win over North Hills. A huge third inning broke the game open, with Brooks Robinson, Hunter Penk, Declan Caraza, Dawson Blauch, and Austin Fletcher all contributing RBI hits. Fletcher led the team with four RBIs, while Caraza and Blauch each collected two hits. Graham Gallagher added three walks as the team totaled 11 walks on the day. Deer Lakes was aggressive on the bases with nine stolen bases, led by Gallagher, Blauch, and Caraza. Robinson got the start on the mound, going 4.1 innings and allowing three runs, while Penk came in relief to finish it off. The defense played clean, not committing a single error.

⚾️ FINAL | Mt. Pleasant 21, Deer Lakes 6

The Lancers ran into a tough one on Monday, falling to Mt. Pleasant despite putting together solid moments at the plate.

Deer Lakes finished with 10 hits on the day, showing fight throughout the lineup.

🔥 Eli Misera led the offense, going 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs
💥 Nolan Danka added two hits
💪 Contributions came across the board with hits from Charlie Cook, AJ Reiher, Brady Plummer, James Gall, Garrett Waybright, and Levi Beacom.

The Lancers were able to generate offense, but Mt. Pleasant took advantage of big innings to create separation late.

On the mound, Plummer battled through five innings, allowing just three earned runs and keeping the Lancers in it early.
