I turned 50 last month.☀️
As I celebrate this milestone, I’ve been reflecting on the people, experiences, and moments that have shaped me.
Movement has been a consistent thread throughout my life. Running began in middle school and led me to compete in Division III cross country and track, serve as team captain my senior year, and be mentored by coaches who believed in me. Mr. Elder, in his quiet way, built my confidence. Mr. Notti helped make my dream of running in college a reality. My college coach, Steve Dolan, challenged me to become a stronger athlete and leader, and he continues to inspire athletes today as the head coach at Penn. Their influence continues to shape the way I coach others.🏃♀️
I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Sydney, Australia (and loved it so much I named my daughter after it!) Before starting Grace and Pace, I earned my master’s degree as a reading specialist and spent nine wonderful years teaching elementary school. Along the way, I taught swimming lessons, worked as a lifeguard, directed my hometown recreation program, and spent years leading Pioneer Girls, a faith-based ministry where I had the privilege of mentoring young girls.🙏🏻
I met my husband while we were both working out at a gym when I was 22. Nearly 22 years of marriage and three amazing children later, I’m incredibly grateful for the life we’ve built together. Somewhere along the way, I even made two fun appearances on the Today show…just one of many unexpected and memorable moments!❤️
Looking back, a principle that has guided me has been serving and uplifting others. Whether teaching, coaching, mentoring, parenting, or running alongside someone, one of my greatest joys has been helping people discover they’re capable of more than they imagined.
That’s exactly why I started Grace and Pace.
Fifty doesn’t feel like the finish line. It feels like the beginning of another beautiful chapter. Here’s to living with grace, moving with purpose, and helping others find their own pace. 🌊
