Bodfish Bicycles and Quiet Mountain Sports Cycling is climate action…and we are cycling every chance we get. He also developed and orchestrated the first Wildflower Century ride that same year. Shasta.

This business was started by Chuck Elliot who has used the nom de plume Bodfish for the last 48 years (1973). His columns, under the headings...Outback with Bodfish/ Biking with Bodfish appeared in various publications for decades. In 1976 he started an offroad bicycle race that is still held annually in Chico's Bidwell Park called The Bidwell Bump....purported to be the oldest offroad bicycle rac

e on the planet. In 1979 he published Butte Country Bicycle Journeys which described rides both on and offroad in California's northern Sacramento Valley and all the way to the Pacific Coast. In 1981 he published a more extensive book of NorCal bicycle trips called Cycling in the Shadow of Shasta with Bodfish, it also featured on and offroad rides, everyone of which featured a view of Mt. In 1983 Chuck Elliot published the first mountain bike/gravel bike book titled...Cycling The California Outback with Bodfish. In 1990 Chuck published California Dream Cycling with Bodfish while performing stay at home Dad duties and teaching part-time. His son, the "microfish" grew up in the bicycle shop and now has his own business: Pup And Suds Productions.

Life below the Cimarron Range in Ridgeway is good…very good. Bicycle routes, warm showers, electric recharge outlets and a lake.

A beautiful eleven mile climb to the Elliot Barker Wildlife Refuge from Cimarron, NM. Some washboard makes me glad to have suspension on the front. Nori Elliot stayed in the van. No barking!

Bluff, Utah…We made it to the Sand Island Put-in…camping here and the prospect of a swim…Nori was first in the river. There’s a strong current but it’s not cold. I quickly rip off my shirt, hat and sunglasses My long pants came off awkwardly, I nearly toppled, so I yanked quickly to get the last leg out…this final effort launched the Ford Transit fob keys out into the strong flowing San Juan River. “What was that?” Lisa croaked. The Van keys!
