Meet our Coaches

JP Mahoney- Owner and Operator of GTD Baseball Training. Coach JPMahoney played baseball for DeSales University where he earned his degree in Marketing. He has extensive experience coaching High School baseball at all levels since 2001 with back-to-back conference champions- 2013-2014-2015. Coordinates and coaches youth Baseball Camps for 7-15-year-olds since 2001. Travel- Consis

ting of 3 teams. 8 Regular Season Championships. 6 Playoff Championships. 5 Tournament Championships. Certified K-12 Special education teacher. Certified in CPR, Heat Acclimatization, and Concussion protocol. Currently resides in Chester with his wife and 5 children. Peter Samila-
Coach Pete Samila is a Union High School graduate. He played baseball all through High School. He played middle infield, outfield, and pitcher. After graduating from Kean college, Coach Samila played on a competitive men’s slowpitch and fastpitch softball team called Big Apple out of Rahway NJ, where his passion for the game grew. After years of competing, his love for the game expanded to coaching. Coach Samila has been coaching youth baseball and softball for 15 years and loves to teach the fundamentals. He has also taught special education for over fifteen years in Basking Ridge. He was the head Softball Coach at William Annin Middle School in Basking Ridge from April 2008 to April 2019. There, he led his team to a league final and 4 semi-finals appearances in the lower Skyland Conference. In February of 2020 Coach accepted the Head JV Softball coach at Ridge High School in Basking Ridge leading his team to a 9-8 record. He is CPR/FIRST AID Certified, Fundamentals of, Coaching Certification, Concussion Certification, Heat Acclimatization Certification protocol. Currently resides in Pompton Lakes with his wife Angela and 5 children. Tom Blackwell-
Coach Tom Blackwell played at Marietta College where he earned a degree in Sports Medicine. Head Baseball Coach at Ride HS since 2001 with back-to-back championships 2013,2014 and 2015. Experienced in organizing Coaches Clinics for youth coaches. Also a former High School Athletic Trainer. Currently resides in Chester with his wife Becky and 4 children. Rayn Miller-
Coach Ryan Miller is a Mendham Freshman Baseball Coach since 2017, with extensive experience coaching high school baseball at all levels. Mt Olive Varsity Assistant (Group 4 State Finalist) 2013. Travel Team 2006-2022. Club level Coach (Ages 12-18) since 2005. Over 15 League/Tournament Championships. Provides Lessons and Baseball Camp since 2005 (Age 7-12). Certified K-12 Health/PE Teacher (Montclair State 2005.

Pitchers:

Fall Pitcher & Catchers Program:
This program will start by working the basic fundamentals including arm slots, pitch grips/spin rates, holding runners on and more. It will also focus on the mental and physical aspects of pitching that are required to be a successful and complete pitcher. Pitchers will become comfortable with different pitch grips and varying pitch speeds. This fall, a major focus will be on the off speed pitches. Young players will learn and focus on pitch grips and release points, and older players will learn to be proficient in throwing these pitches during any count during an at bat.

Catchers:

This catching program will go in depth on the various strategies of blocking, framing, setup positions, throwing out runners and more. We will also teach the mental strategies behind pitch selection, catcher mound visits, and much more. This is a unique opportunity to work 1 on 1, small groups, and alongside pitchers to implement the teachings to make the training part of their regular repertoire.

2022 Speed & Agility Registration Form – OPEN – SIGN UP NOW!!!!


Our program offers a series of high-intensity interval drills that will be used to
enhance core strength, start-up explosion, coordination, and endurance.
Our Speed and Agility Program focuses on improving the athlete’s ability to accelerate/decelerate, change
direction, as well as maintain balance and proper stance. Great for kids trying out for any team or sport, but also perfect for any kid wanting to improve their overall quickness and agility! Participation will be limited to ensure an individualized experience. Please complete the Registration form found below.
