National Qualifying General Information
For every national event (TAP Nationals and Rally) you are required to meet a certain criteria to participate.
For TAP Nationals Atlantic City, your dates to qualify are Apr 27th-Sept 14th.
Sept 15th, any matches played from that date to the event will not count as “qualifying period” matches.
We run the first eligibility report which is 10 lifetime, active membership, 6 matches of weekly play during that timeline, and being on an active roster.
Licensees get the report to look over and alert the non eligible player and captain to make a roster change.
An active roster is required for qualifying. If a licensee does not have the division active for play, those players do not qualify.
If your session is not active, begins after Sept 14th or ends before Sept 14th all players who are on a roster will flag on the report, “not on an active roster”
If you start your session on Oct 1 and technically playing before the tournament, that does not count during that 1 month period between Sept. 15-Oct 9th because the deadline was Sept 14th to have all players in that qualifying bubble and remain active.
The reason we have the grace period inbetween is to run all the necessary steps to build the national tournament. Such as eligibility, roster changes, HC audits and adjustments, singles bracket adjustments (someone who says they are a 3, but really a 5) doubles bracket adjustments, round robin programming, (table, date, time) bracket programming, prize fund distribution, all that is formatted by event, by grouping, and by each bracket within the division to get ready for play October 10th. Plus the 9 million emails and questions that come with it.
This is pretty much the breakdown of what happens every event and what is required on all ends, the player and licensee.
