He dominated the New York state, national, and international tournament circuit in kata, weapons, breaking, self-defense and his specialty; black belt kumite. Grand Master Hill has countless state, national and international grand championship titles to his name. Grand Master Hill now focuses on the daily operations of Master Hill's Red Dragon Martial Arts and Supply, and his International Association. He specializes in teaching children of all ages, as well as special needs children. He believes that the family that trains together grows together!

Josiah received his black belt this weekend and his mother wrote this heartfelt review about his training and Red Dragon:

Josiah Goodwyn is a talented young martial artist, musician, entrepreneur, and homeschool student who is passionate about using his gifts to make an impact.

Josiah began his martial arts journey at just 8 years old under the instruction of Grand Master Hill at Red Dragon Martial Arts. Since then, his dedication, discipline, and determination have helped him earn various trophies and awards, continually pushing himself to reach new levels of excellence.

A straight-A student, Josiah understands that success takes discipline both inside and outside the dojo. Alongside martial arts and academics, he is also a gifted musician and entrepreneur, developing his talents and learning the value of hard work at a young age.

Gabriella just earned her black belt yesterday, and her mother wrote this wonderful review:

Gabriella’s martial arts journey has been about so much more than learning katas, sparring, or self defense. For Gabriella it has been a journey of healing, personal growth, and confidence.

Red Dragon Martial Arts, Grand Master Hill and Master Moe came into her life at the right time. Their positive influence, encouragement, and patience helped to build Gabriella into the strong, independent, capable, young woman she is today.

Through martial arts she developed discipline, self control, perseverance, self esteem, and confidence. She learned to push herself when things were difficult and most importantly she learned that she can do hard things.

Competition became an important part of her transformation into this beautiful young woman. She participated in several competitions and came in top three, many times. Those victories helped her to understand that when she works hard she can accomplish great things. Gabriella learned to challenge herself. She learned to be a winner, not just in competition but in life.

She graduated high school with Magna Cum Laude honors, in the top 10% of her class. With her school choir and individually she has accomplished great things and earned many awards and accolades.

Her Black belt represents every time she pushed through when it was tough, every time she chose not to give up, every competition she stepped into despite her fears, and every lesson that taught her to believe in herself.

As her parents we could not be more proud of Gabriella. We have had the honor and joy of watching her grow into a confident, determined young woman who is fully invested in pursuing her dreams.

Lucas is testing for black belt today! His mother, Maxine Morales, wrote the following heartfelt review of him and his time training at Red Dragon:

Lucas started attending classes a few months after turning 5, and like most boys at that age he was best defined by the quote, "a boy is a noise with dirt on it." We knew we had to introduce him to an activity that could hone his energy into something productive and rewarding. We walked through the mall countless times and Lucas always enjoyed stopping by the dojo window to watch the lessons, aways curious about the weapons, especially the Sai; He was a collector of sticks of all sizes at the time. Tiger Moe always came out to greet us, and one day, Lucas decided he wanted to give it a try. We took advantage of the trial classes offered and soon signed Lucas up for the Happy Dragons classes. Little did we know that life would change drastically beginning early 2020. Through the height of the pandemic, Lucas continued to take classes virtually via Zoom. Try to imagine teaching, redirecting, encouraging, and supporting a group of energetic kids who unbeknownst to them, were slowly being transformed into stronger, more focused and centered little people. It sounds impossible, but they did it. Tiger Moe and Grand Master Hill’s dedication during this time kept Lucas engaged and has led us into his 7th year of training at RDMA. He has represented RDMA in local tournaments (and medaled), taken many 1:1 lessons to refine his kata and weapon skills, joined the bags, pads and gloves fitness classes and currently practices with the adults twice a week. Lucas has gained so much confidence and focus by learning from not only Grand Master and Tiger Moe, but from the diverse members of the dojo. He is elevated, challenged, and supported by his martial arts family and we truly believe that this has been a big part of helping him learn to push through challenges with confidence, courage and determination. After years of steady practice, now he gets to reap the fruits of his mental and physical labor. He has earned the chance to test for his black belt and join the Black Belt family at RDMA. His dedication and determination did not waver, and we are so proud of him.


We are thankful for GMH, Tiger Moe and the other black belts who have lead by example and have inspired Lucas on this journey.

Sydney will be testing for her black belt tomorrow, and this is a wonderful testament from her mom:

Sydney (Syd) started coming to training a few months after she turned 4 years old but was not ready. Instead she watched her brother and Dad train and compete. She was always interested in learning martial arts because her brother and Dad showed great commitment and trained. She officially started as a white belt when she was closer to turning 5 years old. When she got a little older she took many of Master Moe’s Pink Dragon classes. There she made friends and gained confidence. Then during the pandemic we kept up with online lessons and training at home. We returned to the dojo when it was safe. Sydney has gained confidence and sharpened her focus through martial arts. We have seen the benefit of her martial arts training in her academics, where she excels as an honor student. For the past several years she has been training with her favorite, Grand Master Hill, in private lessons where she learns martial arts and many life skills. She had wanted to compete for the first time earlier this year. However, she still hopes to compete one day soon. Syd is so appreciative of the time and effort that everyone in the dojo poured into her training. She is strong and can conquer anything thanks to her martial arts instruction. Syd will continue to train to get better, stronger and more confident.
