On a serious note, we lost a member of the powerboating community, John Wittenberger Sr., back on June 3rd.
John was a good friend, a devoted poker runner, and a beloved member of the powerboating community.
At this year’s event, one of John’s favorite poker runs for decades, I had the sad—but meaningful—privilege of honoring John. I couldn’t think of a more deserving person to receive this award.
On behalf of myself, Jennifer, the Thunder in the City family, and all those whose lives he touched throughout the powerboating community over the decades, I had the distinct honor of presenting our lifetime tribute, the “Tradition of Excellence” Poker Run Award, to his son, John Wittenberger Jr., on behalf of his father.
Good speed, my friend. You will be missed by many.
