Foothills Public Shooting Complex of Cleveland County Large outdoor shooting complex for rifle, pistol, steel target, shotgun, archery, s***t and trap. All ranges are American with Disabilities (ADA) compliant.

Skeet/Trap only $3.00
Spectators $1.00
(Wed., Thurs. & Fri.) Seniors (65+), Veterans, Active or Retired Law Enforcement, NC Wildlife or Cleveland County employees or Disabled - $6.00

Additional Charges:
Rifle/Pistol Stand Fee $2.00
Steel Target Range Fee $10.00
Round Skeet/Trap $5.00 (25 clays)
3D Archery $5.00

Admission Includes: Access to the Rifle, Pistol, Archery, Skeet/Trap Range and One FREE Round of 3D Archery

Come visit this outdoor shooting sports gem in Western North Carolina operated by Cleveland County, NC. We have a 250 yard covered rifle range, a covered 20 yard pistol range and a covered rifle range, a 50 yard multi-use range, two s***t/trap ranges, 50 yard archery practice area and 3-D archery course. Each range is staffed by Range Safety Officers with experience in all shooting sports. All persons must first check in at the range office when visiting Foothills Public Shooting Complex of Cleveland County. Everyone must sign a waiver before going onto any of the ranges. Only parents or legal guardians may sign a waiver for a minor. All waivers are witnessed by our office staff with your government-issued photo ID. The Foothills Public Shooting Complex is a COLD range. No loaded weapons are allowed anywhere but on the firing line. No concealed carry weapons are allowed. For safety and maintenance considerations the following types of ammunition are not allowed to be used at the Foothills Public Shooting Complex:
• Tracers of any type
• Steel core projectiles of any caliber
• .338 Lapua / .50 caliber or larger
All ammunition will be checked with magnet prior to shooting. The Range Master has final authority on what type ammunition can be used. Follow all Range Safety Officer commands
Loaded fi****ms are only permitted on firing line
NO OPEN TOE SHOES OR TANK TOPS ALLOWED
Handguns should be cased or holstered slides back & magazine removed
Shooters must clean up all brass & trash
Alcohol and any illegal substance are prohibited
Eye & Ear Protection required at all times
Treat every firearm as loaded
Keep muzzle pointed in safe direction
Keep finger off trigger until on target & ready to shoot
Keep firearm unloaded until on firing line

2026 AREA 6 Steel Challenge Volunteer/Fundraising Opportunity



Get ready for an action‑packed weekend! The Foothills Public Shooting Complex is hosting the 2026 AREA 6 Steel Challenge on September 26–27, and we’re looking for a motivated organization to join the fun. We need volunteers all day Saturday and Sunday morning to help repaint steel targets between competitors.

Volunteers can set out a tip jar, making this an awesome chance to learn about the event, meet competitors, and raise funds for your organization. If your group is interested in being part of this high‑energy competition, contact our office at 704‑447‑8231.
