Due to some weather uncertainty, tonight’s 3rd Thursday Concert & Juneteenth Celebration is moving indoors to the Cheraw Community Center (200 Powe St.).
Even if the skies clear, moving indoors is necessary. Events like this require hours of setup, sound checks, and preparation, so unfortunately there’s no last-minute “flip the switch” option.
Thank you for rolling with the change! We’re still ready for an amazing evening of celebration, music, food, and fun — rain or shine inside the Cheraw Community Center!
🍔 Featured food trucks will be serving up some delicious eats and treats:
• Monica’s Italian Ice
• Promise House Inc.
• LMS Coaches
• New Life Fellowship Church
🎶 The event begins at 6:00 PM with cultural performances, followed by the incredible Level10LiveBand&Show taking the stage at 7:00 PM and bringing all your favorite hits!
🪑 All ages are welcome, and admission is FREE! Be sure to bring your lawn chairs for a comfortable, family-friendly evening of entertainment.
We look forward to celebrating with you tonight!

For decades, donkeys disappeared from the hillsides of southern Spain as farming became more mechanized. It seemed like progress—until the land started paying the price.
Without grazing animals to clear away dry brush and scrub, vegetation piled up across the countryside, creating perfect fuel for devastating wildfires.
Then came an unexpected solution: bring the donkeys back.
Since 2014, a small brigade of just 18 rescued donkeys has been working around the edges of Doñana National Park. They spend their days doing what comes naturally—eating the dense vegetation that cattle often avoid and that machines struggle to reach.
The result? The protected wetlands have remained free from major wildfire damage for nine consecutive years.
Locals affectionately call them “herbivorous firefighters,” but there’s nothing high-tech about their success. These donkeys aren't using new technology or innovative equipment. They're simply restoring a natural balance that had been lost.
The program has now expanded to other parts of Spain, helping prevent fires, support rural communities, and give abandoned animals a new purpose—all at a fraction of the cost of mechanical clearing.
It's a reminder that sometimes the best solutions aren't found by inventing something new. They're found by rediscovering something old.
Today, thanks to a few hardworking donkeys, an entire landscape is safer, healthier, and thriving once again.
