NEWS RELEASE - AUGUST 16, 2025
(Joliet, Illinois) - On August 15, 2025, at 10:28 p.m., Officers responded to a residence in the 7000 block of Hadrian Drive for a report of a home invasion.
Upon arrival, Officers discovered signs of forced entry at the residence. Officers entered the home and located an unresponsive adult male on the second floor with an apparent gunshot wound. Joliet Fire Department paramedics responded and confirmed the male was deceased.
Officers searched the rest of the home and located an adult female resident and her infant child in an adjacent bedroom. The female resident was in possession of a handgun.
A preliminary investigation indicates the victim, and her child hid in a bedroom closet, and she armed herself after hearing someone forcibly enter the home. It is believed that when the male suspect entered the bedroom, the victim discharged her handgun, striking him in the head. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Will County Coroner’s Office. The suspect was wearing gloves and in possession of a screwdriver at the time of the incident. The suspect was not known to the victim.
This case remains under active investigation, and the victim is fully cooperating with Detectives. Identification of the suspect and the manner of death will be determined by the Will County Coroner’s Office.
