2026 DIRECTIONS to Still Prineville Ride Camp:
ALL TURNS from the edge of pavement on Hwy 97 and Hwy 26 are marked with either “Prineville Endurance Ride” signs, "AERC" signs or "Mustangs To The Rescue" signs. These signs will be placed on Tuesday April 28th.
***FROM MADRAS and points north and west - A mile or so south of Madras on Hwy 97, turn east on Hwy 26 and proceed just about 11 miles. Turn right on good gravel SE Laurel Lane - sign states "Gray Butte TH / Haystack Resvr". Follow for 3 miles (pass Scales Corral) and turn left on Forest Road 5750. Follow this dirt road for a half mile. Turn left at our "Camp" sign and find camp in a quarter mile.
***FROM PRINEVILLE and points east - follow Hwy 26 toward Madras to just shy of the 11 mile marker, which is about 2 miles past the intersection with Lone Pine Road. Turn left on SE Laurel Lane - sign states "Gray Butte TH / Haystack Resvr". Follow for 3 miles (pass Scales Corral) and turn left on Forest Road 5750. Follow this dirt road for a half mile. Turn left at our "Camp" sign and find camp in a quarter mile.
***FROM BEND, Redmond & points south - From Oliver Lemon's in Terrebonne, head north on Hwy 97 for 10.5 miles and turn right on Jericho Lane (signs for Haystack Reservoir and the KOA). Go 1.3 miles and turn right onto SW Haystack Road. In about 2.5 miles, the pavement ends. About 1.5 mile later, turn left at a three way intersection. In 1.5 mile, turn right over a cattle guard onto Forest Road 5750. Follow this dirt road for a half mile. Turn left at our "Camp" sign and find camp in a quarter mile. Please note that some GPS units may attempt to send you a more direct route on inappropriate roads to avoid the corners - we recommend that you follow our signs. We discourage you from leaving Hwy 97 on Norris Lane for similar reasons. [[[ However, for those coming from Redmond or points south of there that KNOW THE AREA, passing Skull Hollow on Lone Pine Road and turning left on Hwy 26 and left on Laurel Lane is a reasonable route that has a little shorter distance on gravel than the Jericho Road access.]]]
Our location is very near Cyrus Horse Camp - you can use your GPS to head toward Cyrus and notice the signs for ride camp on the way. Our camp is quite roomy with plenty of porta-potties (placed Tuesday) and plenty of water tanks spread throughout. Thank you for making the trip!
The forecast predicts enjoyable riding weather with highs near 70s, lows in the high 40s, and 20% or lower chance of precip - yay!

Trail Riders! May 1 - 3, 2026
Every trail rider gets a useful gift just for riding at Still Prineville Trails Weekend.
FRIDAY evening's TRAIL CHALLENGE is a 10 mile trail ride (with a 6 mile option) with judged stations along the way. You can expect challenges typical on any trail ride on public land in central Oregon. Riders start between 4 and 5 pm. Top prizes are generously sponsored by EquestriSafe - check out their cool safety gear.
SATURDAY's trail rides can start between 9 am and noon and are Rider's Choice - you tell us the type of ride you want and we'll put you on the best loop. You have a vet check before and after, so you can choose to ride this like a mock endurance ride.
SUNDAY's trail ride is a POKER RIDE that starts between 9 and 10 am. This ride supports High Desert Renegades Drill Team in addition to Mustangs to the Rescue. This ride will be between 5 and 8 miles long. Cash and gifts to first through third place.
Food trucks in camp - Twin Pearl Coffee & Beignets Friday and Saturday breakfast and light lunch and Los Brothers Taco Shop Saturday evening. A few vendor booths including impressive tack sales. Porta-potties and stock water - bring a bucket if you want your horse to drink separately.
All trail rides cost $40 - come have fun while supporting local causes.

A couple weeks ago, we posted our Event Notices in the area where Still Prineville Trails Weekend takes place to minimize conflicts. Other rides have Trail Masters; we have a Trail Oracle named Jacelyn who single handedly ran all the trails and roads we use and cleared them of any obstacles including eye pokers and knee knockers. Jacelyn will return to beginning marking trails on Monday the 27th - the earliest the Forest Service allows us to mark trail. If you come early and catch a glimpse of Jacelyn running the trails, ask her to read your Tarot cards - when will you ever have the chance for a Tarot Card Reading by any other Trail Oracle?
Get May 1 through 3rd highlighted on your calendar and check back here daily - we're posting updates and announcements each day through the end of April to keep you in the loop.

Let's talk about FOOD during Still Prineville Trails Weekend May 1 - 3, 2026:
Friday and Saturday mornings through early afternoons, Twin Pearl Coffee & Beignets will be serving coffee and delicious pastries and light lunches. Yum!
Saturday evening, leading up to our ride meeting, Los Brothers Taco Shop will be on hand for full meals or ala carte orders off their traditional Mexican food. They will have freshly prepared items from a limited part of their online menu (burritos, tacos, enchiladas, etc). We don't NEED you to order ahead, but we'd like you to cruise the link to their page and consider letting us know if you plan to get food from them Saturday evening. You can do that by commenting on this post or by emailing [email protected] if you'd like.
We do want to revive our Sunday morning community breakfast but we do not yet have someone to run our kitchen. Let us know if you've got that in you!
