🏅 CHELSEA UNITED IN ABILITY 2026 CHELSEA ROAD RACE
For 2026, our goal was to create a finisher medal that reflects the City of Chelsea’s commitment to making the Chelsea Road Race more accessible, welcoming, and inclusive.
Our theme, “United in Ability,” represents our belief that athletes of all abilities deserve to feel welcomed, supported, and celebrated—and that everyone belongs at the starting line.
To bring that commitment to life, Veronica Sosa, lead designer of the Chelsea Road Race since its beginning, created a completely new medal design for this year’s race. The ribbon features colors inspired by the Disability Pride Flag, representing the strength, diversity, and many different experiences within the disability community.
Veronica’s design tells the story of the race we are working to build: a race where runners, walkers, wheelchair athletes, families, and community members can move forward together.
We are proud to be working with Ashworth Awards to transform Veronica’s vision into reality. Founded in 1965, this family-led company brings decades of creativity, craftsmanship, and passion for endurance sports to every medal it produces.

This medal represents more than completing 3.1 miles. It represents belonging, perseverance, and a community United in Ability.

🏆 RETURN OF THE CHAMPIONS 🏆
As we prepare for the third annual Chelsea Road Race, we are proud to introduce a new tradition celebrating the champions who helped shape our race from the very beginning.
This year, three of our past champions are officially returning to the starting line:
🏆 Antonio Wilson Sousa Lima — 2024 Men’s Champion
🏆 Cindy Cortes — 2024 Women’s Champion
🏆 Carlos Cabrera — 2025 Men’s Champion
We are honored to welcome Antonio, Cindy, and Carlos back to Chelsea as they return to compete in the 2026 Chelsea Road Race!
This poster also proudly recognizes Carolyn Cohen, our 2025 Women’s Champion. Although Carolyn will be unable to return this year because she will be out of town, she has graciously given us permission to include her photo as we celebrate her achievement and her important place in Chelsea Road Race history.
The Return of the Champions is about more than who will compete this year. It is about honoring the athletes whose performances, dedication, and presence have helped build the legacy of the Chelsea Road Race.
To all our champions: thank you for becoming part of our history. We cannot wait to welcome three of you back to the starting line on September 5!

One of our favorite traditions each year is placing posters throughout our city. It's more than promoting a race, it's an opportunity to connect with neighbors, support local businesses, meet new faces, and feel the excitement for race day grow with every stop.
