Chelan Track and Field Stars Shine at WIAA State Championships
The Chelan High School track and field team capped off a phenomenal season with standout performances at the WIAA 1B/2B/1A State Championship Meet, held at Zaepfel Stadium at Eisenhower High School. Competing against the top athletes in the state, Chelan's qualifiers dug deep, setting new personal records and earning well-deserved spots on the podium.

Alteio Leads the Charge in the 400m and Relays
Senior Holden Alteio put on a masterclass of endurance and speed over a busy weekend on the track:
400 Meters: Alteio turned heads during the preliminary rounds, clocking a blistering, personal-best time of 50.26 seconds to advance. He backed up that performance in the finals, securing a fantastic 6th-place finish in the state with a time of 51.15 seconds.
4x400 Relay: Alteio joined forces with junior Bryce Ware, sophomore Austin Zimmer, and junior Noah Kanehen for a thrilling run in the 1A relay. After fighting hard in the prelims to secure their spot in the final, the squad captured 6th place in the state, crossing the finish line with an impressive time of 3:30.41.
Brown Represents in Discus Finals
In the field events, senior Boston Brown capped off his distinguished high school career by competing against the state's elite throwing field. Brown delivered a strong throw of 138-05 in the 1.6kg Discus finals, earning 12th place overall in Washington.
Fielding Pushes the Pace in Distance Events
On the women's side, junior Indy Fielding showcased incredible grit and stamina across two grueling distance events:
800 Meters: Fielding ran a magnificent preliminary race, crossing the line with a personal-record time of 2:23.04 to take 12th place.
1600 Meters: She followed up her 800m performance with a fierce run in the 1A finals, taking 13th in the state with a time of 5:28.80.

Congratulations to all of our Goats who competed at the state meet! Your hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship represented the Chelan community beautifully on the biggest stage. We are incredibly proud of you!

Back-to-Back Champions! Chelan Goats Capture the 2025-2026 Caribou Cup

The Caribou Cup is staying exactly where it belongs! For the second consecutive year, the Chelan Goats have proven their overall athletic dominance, officially claiming the 2025-2026 Caribou Cup All-Sports Trophy.

What is the Caribou Cup?

The Caribou Cup is the ultimate measure of all-around athletic excellence in the Caribou Trail League (CTL). It is awarded annually to the school that performs the best across the board in league competition.

Here is how the scoring works:

1st Place (CTL Champion): 3 points

2nd Place (Runner-Up): 2 points

3rd Place: 1 point

To ensure fairness across different athletic programs, the total points are divided by the number of CTL sports each school participates in to calculate a final average score. The school with the highest average keeps the coveted traveling trophy for the following school year.

By the Numbers: A Dominant Year for the Goats

Chelan’s student-athletes left no doubt this year, putting together a stellar campaign from the fall all the way through the spring.

Competing in 17 different league sports, the Goats racked up a massive 40 total points, finishing with a first-place average of 2.35. That impressive score comfortably outpaced both Cascade (32 points, 2.00 average) and Omak (28 points, 1.75 average).

A huge key to Chelan's back-to-back title was their sheer volume of league championships. Earning 3 points requires finishing at the very top of the CTL, and the Goats secured first place in an incredible nine different sports:

Volleyball

Boys Basketball

Boys Wrestling

Baseball

Softball

Boys Tennis

Girls Tennis

Boys Golf

Girls Golf

In addition to these championships, consistent runner-up finishes in Cross Country (Boys and Girls), Girls Basketball, Girls Wrestling, and Boys Track ensured that Chelan's average remained untouchable.

The Trophy Stays Home

Winning a league title in a single sport is incredibly difficult, but fielding highly competitive teams across 17 different sports requires exceptional dedication from the entire athletic department including, student athletes, coaches, fans and our community.

Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches, parents, and fans who contributed to this incredible achievement. The traveling trophy will proudly remain in the trophy case at Chelan High School for the 2026-2027 school year.
