I had the pleasure of working with Casey Erb this past Spring. We worked on building confidence around getting his driver's license. Casey put in the work on moving past the obstacles that were getting in his way of reaching his goal. SO proud of him. It takes a lot to step in and face our fears and HE DID IT! He was so open to learning and understanding why the fear was there and he cleared it! So happy to see this pride on his face in these pictures!

This is one of my 5 year mental toughness students. She is an incredible athlete and person! SO happy for you Britney Patrick! You are so deserving!

LACEY, Wash. – From helping the Saints' break the single game home run record, to leading in almost every offensive category, Britney Patrick emerged as a superstar in the GNAC in her freshman campaign. On Wednesday, Patrick earned the GNAC Freshman of the Year, and was selected to first team All-...

Who here has heard of using visualization for sports performance?

This is a question I often ask when working with teams and generally I get about 10% of the group raising their hands. The next question of those that have heard of it is "Who here is using it?" and generally it is a very small percentage.

I get VERY excited when I see this, because I KNOW these athletes' lives are about to get a whole lot better.

There are many well known athletes that have proven the power of visualization works. The most recent stand out is Olympic Gold Medalist Bianca Andreescu who beat Serena Williams. She is quoted “I’ve been dreaming of this moment for the longest time, and I’ve been visualizing it almost every single day.” She credits her mom for showing her the power of her mind from a young age.

This video is a great one! Craig Sigl was my Mental Toughness Trainer and taught me everything he knows.

I would love to hear in the comments if you are using visualization in your sport or life.

In working with youth I see first hand the incredible impact teaching confidence building has on them.

It makes a kid who is self-doubting and unsure walk and talk in a new way. One that is able to see growth and positivity in all things that are coming at them in their lives ( even the hard stuff).

They see themselves through a new lens, and that THEY are the ones generating their confidence, not anyone else. This is how it lasts. A belief in who they really are based on THEIR truth that they have exactly what it takes to reach whatever goal they want to!

Please reach out with any questions on confidence! One of my favorite topics!

Time to celebrate one of my most dedicated and committed mental toughness students Zachary Allton!

This incredible young man is the definition of relentless. He is relentless about working on not only his physical game but also his mental game and being the very best he can be in both.

Zach has had physical injuries in his career that have forced him to look deep inside and deal with some of the difficulties and uncertainties of the impact of physical challenges.

The strength that I see in Zach is that he is willing to face ALL the challenges that come his way. And he does it with an honesty and openness to growing.

You know, I throw A LOT of tools to athletes to use to work on their mental game and Zach does ALL of them! He is committed 110%!

I often share with athletes that their mental game is just like the physical, it takes reps. Zach treats the game like this, he does his reps. And it shows!

He recovers quickly from missed performances, he is able to redirect his mind to create the outcome he wants. He is in control of his game.

He knows there is no failure, only growing. This is a teaching that can take time and patience especially if you are the type of person that has high expectations of yourself and always want to do your very best ( like Zach). But he is mastering the release of this idea of failure and turning it into a growth lesson.

Zach has integrity, strength, drive , a quiet confidence , along with a kindness. It shows on and off the court.

It has been an honor to get to know the young man he is and it will be an honor to watch as he continues to grow and help others just by being himself.

So proud of you Zachary Allton!

One of my athletes sent me this today. To me this represents his resilience. This guy had a rough week last week and to be able to bounce-back, comeback stronger and dive even deeper into growing is a testimony to how strong of a mental game he has.

A team he had been really wanting to be part of had try outs and he physically did not perform how he wanted to....this led to not making the cut along with a lot of emotions: disappointment, anger, embarrassment, sadness to name a few.

What I admire about him is that he knows there is a bigger picture going on here. He felt the emotions, processed them and took action. He knows that there is not failure only growing. This doesn't make it easy but at least there is a plan in place for him to move into a direction of empowerment rather than staying in the loop of disempowerment and victim.

Mentally tough athletes understand that missed performances are inevitable, it is going to happen. But being able to USE it to grow is what really matters.

This guy has a dream to use his position someday as a professional athlete to help create positive change in the world. I would say he already is making the positive change❤️ and I know he will reach his goals!

Well done!

🦈Anyone catch Shark Week 2020?

🦈Would you dive with sharks? My first thought is NO WAY!

But, after watching " Off the Deep End" featuring Will Smith, where he dives deep into facing fears ( literally). ,I feel a bit more open to the idea.

🦈He shares his story of his own fears as a child related to water and credits the movie Jaws for this.

He began to face his fears by learning how to swim when he was 40 and then ultimately facing his fear of sharks by swimming with them! It is incredible!

🦈He draws on a quote from the movie " After Earth" he was in and uses the powerful words as fuel for courage to dive into shark infested waters.

Most definitely worth the watch!
