The Legends and Basil Chevy played a competitive and friendly game Wednesday night. Legends would start fast with 5 run in the first with hits from Mike Nappo, Steve Gidwitz, Dave Lombardo, Kevin Kaminski, Jeff Allan, and Jon Perkins. Basil responded scoring 3 in the bottom of the first with hits from W***y Wilson, John Meka, Jeff Mattison and Bruce Pienkowski. Legends went on to win big preparing for the rematch with the MOGS next week in a follow-up to last year’s finals. Leading Legends were Mike Nappo with 5 hits, Kevin Kaminski, Jeff Allan, Jon Perkins, Bob Baker and Bob Battisti with 4 hits.

For Basil it was W***y Wilson went a perfect 4 for 4, with a double and an RBI. John Meka went 3 for 4 while Bruce Pienkowski, Loco Joe Gersbacher and John Furey had 2 hits a piece. Defensively for Basil Fred Marshall turned an unusual bases loaded 5-2 double play. 😀🥎🥎🥎😎

The juiced 47/500 softballs are ROCKIN'!! 36 runs were scored on diamond 3 as neither team could field the hot softballs. 28-8

SCHUNKS VS BUILDERS I
On a beautiful night in West Falls, the GDSL 60+ League finally got underway with Schunks Bat Pactk hosting Deck Unlimited I and both teams were ready to get the season started!

Decks would score first with a single by Mark Valentino and a triple by Joe McCooey. Schunks answered in their half of the first with hits from Mike Baetzhold and Ken Boos. Decks scored 5 in the second with another key hit a triple by McCooey. Rick Edwards kept the bat pack in check until they scored 2 in the 6th. The Bat Pack refused to go quietly scoring 3 in the 7th before a double play by Valentino and Mark Majewski ended the game.

Leading Schunks Boos had 4 hits, Gary Steinmetz, Steve Caprow and Gary Boncal had 2 hits, with Joe Felong hitting a long triple. Decks were led by rookie McCooey with a home run and 2 triples. Rick Edwards had 4 hits and John Jimenez, Ken Miller, Mike Raddar, Dan Birmingham, Rick Wells and Paul Young all had 3 hits 😀🥎🥎🥎 😎

LEGENDS VS BUILDERS II
​​​Opening night of the GDSL 60+ league play saw defending champs Legends take on Decks Unlimited II. Legends started quickly scoring 5 in the first with hits from Mike Nappo, Dave Lombardo, Kevin Kaminski, Bob Battisti, Jon Perkins, Bob Baker and Jeff Gianiodis. Legends added 4 runs in the second and 5 in the fourth. Final score Legends 19 and Builders II with 2. Leading Legends were Nappo 4 hits, Kenny Struck, Lombardo, Kaminski, Perkins, Gianiodis and Jim Losel had 3 hits. Builders were led by Phil Klock and Steve Hoffman with 3 hits. It was good to see our teammate Tommy Aries join us at the game. 😀🥎🥎🥎😎

MOGS VS BASIL CHEVY
Opening night of the 2026 season saw MOG’s vs Basil. Basil jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the 1st, however, they were held scoreless for the next 6 innings. Led by Al Schum’s and Jim Manzella’s 3 hits each, several nice defensive plays including a stellar catch by Schum that robbed Bob baker of solid hit and Kevin Larson’s solid pitching. The MOG’s were able to claw back and win 7 to 4. Lance Over made several awesome plays at shortstop for Basil. It was heartwarming to see Kathy Marshall back on the sidelines, keeping score and cheering Basil on, after her recent medical challenges. 😀🥎🥎🥎😎
