Scenic City Distance Project had a great showing at the Four Bridges Half Marathon this past weekend!

Sarah completed her FIRST half marathon and Lisa grabbed 3rd place in her age group!

These achievements are just the beginning as they gear up for the California International Marathon in December. Way to go ladies!

ATHLETE SHOUTOUT:

Matt Russell is an Ironman! He completed the Ironman Chattanooga 144.6 yesterday and smashed his goal with an impressive time of 11:52:10.

Matt came to me a couple months ago and mentioned he was thinking about doing his first triathlon at Ironman Chattanooga. For most people, this would be an absolutely crazy idea, but for Matt, this was right on brand.

We were so impressed with what Matt was able to accomplish yesterday. He dug deep when the race got tough and we can’t wait to cheer him on as he tackles his next wild dream. Way to go Matt!

This is Scenic City Distance Project - a running group based in Chattanooga, coached by Christian Thompson.

A little about the coach:

Christian is a NY native and alumni of the University of Colorado cross country and track and field programs, coached by Mark Wetmore. Post-collegiately, Christian ran for NY-NJ track club under Coach Frank Gagliano, and was later coached remotely by Finnish coach, Kari Sinkkonen. Christian qualified and competed in the 2020 Olympic Marathon trials.

Through his years of running experience, Christian has gained valuable coaching knowledge that he is eager to share to develop distance runners of all ages and abilities.
