Congratulations to these students Christopher O'Hara, Kendall Kopcsak, Lawson Cargal and Jackson Pannell for being named a 2026 semifinalist for the Governor's Honors Program.
Out of roughly 4,200 initial nominees, only about 1,500 students are selected as semifinalists to advance in this highly competitive, four-week residential program. Semifinalists are selected based on demonstrated skills, creativity, and maturity in fields like STEM, humanities, or fine arts.
Semifinalists undergo rigorous, in-person interviews and auditions judged by state experts to determine final acceptance into the summer program. This achievement highlights a student's commitment to going beyond the classroom and is recognized as a significant honor, often mentioned for college admissions (e.g., to Georgia Tech). Semifinalists are considered to have high intellectual or artistic capabilities, with a drive to learn deeper than a typical high school curriculum allows. Congratulations to our North Murray semifinalist!
