The smiles, the laughs, the little moments of excitement when they finally get something they’ve been working on... those moments matter just as much as the technique. ✨

Have you ever noticed your little dancer moving between the beats? 👀🎶

That’s syncopation in dance!

Instead of always stepping right on the main beat, dancers learn to move on the “in-between” counts, creating different rhythms and making their movement more interesting.

For our littles, this is a great way to build musicality. They’re learning to really listen to the music, recognize different rhythms, and coordinate their bodies with what they hear.

It might seem like a small thing, but learning these rhythms early helps dancers become more confident and musical as they grow. ❤️

We’re so excited to celebrate Cecilia as our Student of the Month!

Cecilia loves ballet, but what she really loves is getting to move. As she puts it, she loves to “free dance” and “move my body to music.”

She loves learning all of the ballet poses, expressing herself, and being “super silly” in class. One of her favorite things about dance is getting to take ballet with her cousin, Olivia, too!

Cecilia says dancing makes her feel happy and is her favorite way to exercise. Outside of dance, she loves building LEGOs with her dad, playing pretend with her sister and cousins, and using her imagination to create and explore new things.

We love Cecilia’s happy energy and the joy she brings into the studio. We’re so lucky to have her dancing with us! Congratulations, Cecilia!

Who knew working on our balances could be THIS much fun? 🩰💗

At DSLA, we love finding creative ways to make technique feel exciting for our littles! These fun exercises give our dancers a chance to work on their balance, strength, and control while enjoying every moment in class. ✨

Because when you’re having fun, you’re learning more than you realize! 💕
