The Virginia Wushu Club was founded by Mike Chin in the Fall of 2001. Mike's goal in the creation of Wushu Club was to bring greater awareness of the Chinese Martial Arts to the University community. Assisted by long-time friend and Wushu instructor, Alex Joseph, the Wushu Club has met with great success here at the University. Dark days fell upon the wushu-ren however, but not for long. Under the
leadership of Pengyu Fan the club fought off extinction, for truly he was the hero that we needed -- but was he what we deserved? You may have seen them walking around grounds holding a broadsword, straightsword, spear and a staff...you can't miss them. Members of the club are currently training in Shaolin and Long Fist forms, as well as Southern Fist. Basic conditioning exercises are essential to the training of Wushu Club, with emphasis on proper stances, strength training and flexibility. We are also known as the Hoo-Tang Clan
