They couldn't heal until they felt it together... Can you see how he cycles through defensiveness, positivity, deflection, blame, joking, lashing out to shift attention away from his pain? She just holds the line... she stays grounded and he goes down into it with her... and finally they can make contact with what was already there, and find each other in the middle of it...
