☀️Memorial Day weekend = POOLS OPEN!! ☀️
•
It’s that glorious time of year when we can all get some sun and enjoy the water! In recognition of National Water Safety month, please check out these tips:
•
💦Designate a WATER WATCHER. Put the phone down, take turns, someone needs to be actively observing for safety even if there is a lifeguard. SO many drownings and accidents happens in private pools where people let their guard down.
•
💦An adult should be within ARMS LENGTH of non-swimmers. Puddle jumpers and lifejackets are not substitutes for supervision! Plus they give a false sense of security AND they build poor muscle memory putting kids in a vertical position making it harder for them to learn to swim in the long run.
•
💦Make a ROUTINE for littles. Have them practice asking you before they get in and do the same things EVERY TIME before they get in to any water.
•
💦PHYSICAL BARRIERS save lives! Fence your pool, lock the doors. Get a water alarm system for your home. 81% of fatal drownings happen at home.
•
💦Get certified in CPR. Bystanders are often the first responders to an emergency! Taking a simple class is worth it for your family’s safety. Early action can prevent a drowning event from becoming fatal.
•
💦LEARN TO SWIM!!! For your kids, for yourself! It’s never too late and we have openings NOW!! Don’t put off this important life skill.
•
💦HAVE A PLAN. Know where the safety flotation devices are at any pool or water location. Teach your kids how to call 911 and recognize an AED. Be prepared!
•
Enjoy our video of our recent Water Safety Week! All of our swim lesson kiddos learned what drowning looks like, how they can reach or throw something to a person in danger but never go after them on their own. They also learned what it’s like to fall in the water with all their clothes on, no goggles, and had to get themselves out or float. Lastly they were able to explore the safety equipment we keep on deck.

☀️Have a SAFE and FUN Memorial Day weekend with family and friends! Enjoy the water!!☀️
