The calm before the storm...Silent Wednesday.
Our Holy Week is almost to its most radical and historical days, but first today.
The bible reveals nothing about what Jesus did today and consequently today is historically called Silent Wednesday.
We know the disciples were busy! Busily prepping for Passover feast. The last supper. And the garden of Gethsemane gathering. They were busy! But Jesus was quiet and we see no record of his day recorded.
Obviously, Jesus knows that his accuser and betrayer have met, and can you even imagine what anxiety that would cause us in our human state?? He knew of this and that his fate was set in motion, yet he was never anxious. He also knows his time is drawing near that he will no longer live as a human with his loved ones. And let’s ponder that a moment...how terribly sad we would be. Knowing we had 24-30 hours left with our beloveds. So, today Jesus was with his family and friends.
It was full of Quality time....And What the bible omits is where we can draw our lesson. The lack of recording speaks so loudly.
Jesus' quality time with his closest ones is undocumented. And unrecorded. The authors were possibly so overwhelmed and enthralled with him that they recorded nothing as there may have been too much... Heart swells are hard to document aren't they?
Soaking him in. Soaking them in. And completely giving of himself. Totally. That is quality time at its truest form. The days leading to Easter should be as such...quality. Close. Reflective. Deep. Surrounded by your hearts. On this earth. What greater gift could Jesus have given than his undivided personal uninterrupted time.
My heart is overwhelmed...for the reason we celebrate Easter was God's heart, his enormous love for us. His Love on Display. To draw us into a heart swell for Him. And those he puts into our lives. Today we MUST surround ourselves with the love and freely pour out the love that we have for those we love. Just as Jesus did this day. Follow his lead and love those in your life as there is no tomorrow. He did. And his love was endless...and he’s about to display that even to the cross...soon.
I am completely humbled and overwhelmed. Wow.
Today. Let’s put down our devices and connect. Let’s seek to cherish and envelop those in our lives with quality time. Give what you can. Love where you can. And BE present.
You are so loved. We are. I am. What love is this?
It is on display...for all the world to see. Much love to you!!!
