My Drill Bit Charts Pro software is starting to get a lot more downloads from the Google Play Store .. it also runs on Google Chromebooks as an Android app .. and can even run on Windows as an Android app .. my Windows Store version of Drill Bit Charts Pro is currently offline in the store .. once again, like the apps disappearing from Google Play Store because of Google Policy changes, some new Windows Store policy change has it knocked off for the time being .. unlike my Android apps being unavailable on Google Play for 2-3 years, I'll get DBCP back on the Windows Store very shortly.

I've been working with Microsoft's .NET Blazor and .NET MAUI since September of 2022 very diligently and those development environments have been advancing nicely .. I've been using Blazor to publish web sites on the Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform but haven’t published any Blazor Hybrid mobile or desktop apps so far .. the main reason is that my Mac computers are all down .. I've been working to get new hard drives (SSD, NVMe) in them and should be back online for developing on Mac's soon .. then I'll be able to publish to iPhone, iPad, macOS, as well as Android and Windows Store with apps that share a lot of code with the web versions of the apps.

This guy, James Montemagmo, is an excellent instructor .. I wouldn't be where I am without his videos .. even if you aren't a programmer / developer, this video may be of interest to you so that you see what developers do at the basic level .. it will give you an idea of what I really do as well.

I'm not going to be able to return to working contracts until I have the spine surgery .. As soon as recruiters and managers hear that I have pending spine surgery and that I'm disabled, job opportunities vaporize instantly .. I'm continuing to try to do some model airplane work and some guitar work, but the limited mobility is severely challenging for the model airplane work .. even just picking up guitars and the equipment needed to work on them is a challenge .. but I expect to be making guitar work recordings almost daily.
My personal web site (DonStegall dot com) is currently offline .. it and RC Pylon Suppliers dot com are getting new version drops today and tomorrow. I will be making a lot of announcements over the next week if I can stay reasonably healthy.

I updated this Articles page on my personal web site .. https://donstegall.com/articles .. it will be getting updates .. I need to know which issue of Model Aviation my Warbird Racing article was in .. had to have been sometime between 2015 and 2017 as it talked about Warbird Racing at the 2016 and 2017 AMA NATS

We all need prayers ..

John was very active in RCPRO Club 40 Pylon Racing in the 2009-2012 timeframe in Alabama and has been a great friend to me .. he talked me out of going AMA on May 13th 2021 after I had arrived at the SNF to terrible conditions .. not the Academy of Model Aeronautics .. Again Medical Advice .. I wouldn't be alive if I had left the SNF that night

I've made a little progress on 3D modeling in Blender for my RealFlight project of creating a Sky Raider Mach II / Club 40 Racer visual model .. I got the fuselage shape reasonably close with a low polygon count, but I was having trouble with the textures not showing properly .. a new friend Jun Taue saw my box plane posting and he's helped get the texture visuals working .. I was getting frustrated, but now I can move on to more complex modeling and finish this plane plus hopefully the Q40's, Q500's, and EF1's I want to do .. the second image is what it was looking like before his help

Since I'm back in the shop and feeling like I'm starting to get back in a groove, I decided to shoot a little video this morning (5/30/2023) showing the state of my model airplane workshops .. I've still got a ways to go, probably another week or two to get things fully put away, but my workflow is getting back in order and I'm getting things done as well as getting my organization back in gear.

I got the rest of umbrella studio lights back up in the main workshop this week .. been spending more time in the shop .. I had put a lot of things into those boxes in 2019 just before I got sick .. even though they're mostly labeled, some random items are in wrong boxes .. so I've been going through them .. there are about a 100 of them in the shop .. it's still got things piled up, but I'm making some headway on getting things put back in their place.

I've created a new Substack publication called Model Airplane Design & Construction .. you can access and subscribe to it at .. https://airplane.substack.com/

I'm going to be turning some of the things I did on RCU and RCPRO into articles .. Substack lets me mix words with inline photos and videos in more complete works than I could do in the forums and on Facebook or other social media.

The first new project is cloning the T-34 Mentor very squint scale plane by The World Models .. I'll be going through turning the airfoil into DAT coordinates for CompuFoil 3D to drawing the reference outlines for the major sub-components to the creation of parts for laser cutting .. I'll also cover the making of the canopy plug and the cowl mold.

Please subscribe so you get notifications when new articles are published.

This is an hour of me cutting 4 foam wing core blanks and then cutting a core. I had not done this is several years. No later than 2018 probably. I had some relearning to do even though I had watched my prior videos. It's raw unedited footage from one camera and probably pretty raw. But it is exactly what it was.

On Saturday I cleared the area in my main workshop where my constant chord foam cutting rig is. I got the fixture for cutting Q500 blanks out. I normally have it on its own table, but I'm just now getting the shop back in order and space is at a premium. I put the fixtures on the cutting table and cut 4 more blanks. I was down to one. I took a break and then cut a NACA 66-012 core. I was running a couple of cameras video recording to capture the process. I may try to turn it into a produced video. I've got the raw video from one of the cameras uploading to YouTube. I'll post the video link(s) later on.

I'm returning to sheeting wings for Q500 and probably other classes of planes. I'm going to take it further and start providing Ready to Cover (RTC) and finished wings. Foam cores will be available for NACA 66-012 (Vortex), S8064 (Viper 500), MH17B, and others. I have templates for the Ninja, and I'm going to be making templates for the Quik-V6 and V7 very soon.

Speaking of the Quik-V7 ... I had a guy named Gustavo Elizondo contact me here on Facebook a couple of weeks ago about sheeting cores and then building wings for him and his racing group in Mexico. I told him up front that the only methods of payment I take for direct orders are Zelle, CashApp by Square, and Venmo by PayPal. After giving him price and delivery, he hits me to take PayPal. I of course rejected that. I reiterated the payment methods I will accept. He tells me a check from Wells Fargo would be easier for him. Any Wells Fargo customer has Zelle. I sent him a screenshot from the mobile app. I finally sent this, letter for letter .. "I hate dealing with people not wanting to use modern payment methods" .. I had been communicating with him in Spanish because his English is poor. I'm a polyglot. I can usually read and write in other people's languages with the help of translation tools and dual translation much, much quicker than they can write English and understand it if it isn't their primary language. I had been communicating with him in Spanish. But Bluetooth had stopped working on my new primary desktop (a storm power glitch it turned out) and I was very frustrated not being able to use a decent mouse. So I wrote in English. A statement about dealing with people not using modern payment methods. He responded with "you hate ??? .. so you already have the plans and now you hate your costumer??? .. you are bad people .. but thats your problem .. understand why always complain on the internet .. bye" and he blocked me. I may post the portion leading up to my statement because he was pounding on me to take PayPal over and over again.

This I don't need. From anyone. One more time. I do not take PayPal for any direct sales. Period. Ever. Never. Again. PayPal holds a merchant's money for 21 days. I'm not working to loan PayPal money for 3 weeks. Most of my products are out-of-stock at Amazon and will be for a bit longer. Amazon can take whatever payment methods they want. I know I don't get paid by Amazon for 45-60 days. It's part of selling on Amazon. It's also one reason I haven't kept products in stock at Amazon during my health challenges. I've been fighting an extremely rare disease and fighting and clawing to survive and hopefully thrive again in the future. The bacterial infection was cured over a year ago. It and the recovery has been a hellacious time in my life. Few (if any) know what the actual struggle has been like. But I'm much better and if I wouldn't do things like sticking my most important finger in a model airplane propellor on a running engine at 20K rpm, or kick open dishwasher doors, things would be easier.

If you are still using PayPal, expect it to get harder and harder to use it. In the days of always connected phones, tablets, and computers, much better payment systems are readily available to anyone who knows how to download and use an app on a phone or computer. Scammers and people who want to dispute charges use PayPal. In the future, I expect fewer and fewer merchants to accept PayPal. It's just not worth the hassle. If you doubt what I've written about PayPal, take yourself to this link on PayPal's help pages .. https://www.paypal.com/us/brc/article/funds-availability .. this is actually much worse than some of the lines may lead you to believe. Read this part .. "Your selling pattern appears unusual or changed. An unusual sales activity includes: a recent spike in sales or a change in your average selling price, business platform or type of item being sold." .. what this means is that if you haven't sold in a while or if you suddenly get successful as has happened with me over and over again, your much need funds to pay for the product you've shipped get put on hold.

The positive here is that I'm seriously back in the shop. I'm seriously getting the shop back in order. I'm seriously working to get back to having fun building and flying model airplanes. Heaven knows I need some fun.

I had a good interview on Wednesday, and I should be returning to my banking software career very soon. In the meantime, I'm working very hard to start producing products for the hobby community again. I appreciate all of the support and understanding through these trying past few years.
