9 hours of sleep last night....this is why I had the big schedule overhaul in February that closed the gym on Wednesdays.
There are many ways to progress your fitness. While I'm not perfect with nutrition (more variety would be optimal) or training, I have those two dialed in pretty well. Sleep was always the area that needed the most improvement.
I've never had a hard time falling asleep or staying asleep. The problem was prioritizing the time allotted for sleep, and that's what I've been working on improving.
I'm in a much better place sleep-wise today compared to February, but it's still an area I can continue to optimize and improve.
While I didn't necessarily always "feel" run down, there's been a pretty significant difference in my energy and, most notably, my strength since making the adjustment and increasing my weekly sleep hours. Normal aches and pains have also reduced significantly.
With my hip arthritis, I feel confident that the negative symptoms have lessened as a result of improved sleep and recovery.
I'm not making a new discovery here, but I'm noting that the increased sleep has been worth the adjustment. Based on conversations at the gym, it's probably an area of focus that we all need to prioritize more if we want to generally feel better and perform better.
