This is my first surgery pic on Instagram, and hopefully the last. 🤞🏽⁣
I appreciate everyone who’s reached out and asked how surgery went .🙏🏽 ⁣
I know people had questions so here’s a quick summary of what happened (injury was not caused excessive handstands 🙃). ⁣
About 8 years ago I dislocated my thumb on my right hand, and after it was fixed I decided to skip all of the PT exercises that were prescribed. Within a year of the thumb injury I dislocated my ring and pinky fingers. After those fingers were reset I once again ignored the PT exercises and went back to my normal workout routine.⁣
In the years following those injuries I weight lifted regularly and excessively overloaded my wrists. This constant overloading to weak joints started to damage my thumb and wrist (area that PT would have fixed). It wasn’t until 2 years ago that I started regularly doing the PT exercises, but it was too little too late. Sometime over the past year a bone near my thumb (scaphoid (pic4)) shifted out of place and eventually broken into two pieces!!... This is what led to the surgery.⁣
The surgery plan was to remove the broken scaphoid pieces and fuse 3 others bones in my hand together, this is supposed to stabilize the area create additional strength. The recovery time for this can range anywhere from 6-12 weeks.⁣
I honestly didn’t look up what a bone fusion is, I’ve already underestimated recovery time and post-op hand mobility.🤦🏽‍♂️😅⁣

If anyone has insight or experience with bone fusions I’d love to hear about it?⁣

Catching up from a long weekend and thought I’d share some of last weeks fun!

If you haven’t been to .clt you should check it out!! The artwork by my friends & will make any picture look amazing!! 💯🔥
Don’t forget to check out the exhibit... it’s tons of fun! 🥳🍭🍬

Teacher training with was once again amazing!! (Swipe right ➡️)
The intelligent sequencing & assisting module has given me a whole new perspective on vinyasa yoga and how flow sequencing can be structured.
For me its not about how many poses I can cue or the playlist, it’s about safely taking students through progressions that open up the body and allow them to do things they never thought were possible.
I’m still processing the wave sequencing and can’t wait to try it out!! 😄🙌🏽
If you’re looking to take you’re teaching up a level, learn about intelligent, and peak pose sequencing you should check out 300HR advanced training modules. 🙏🏽

This isn’t an exciting inversion picture but this pose is one of the foundational postures of Ashtanga yoga... Marichyasana (this is variation C). ⁣
Let’s talk about the Benefits!! ⁣
The Marichyasana poses will help you build strength, improve flexibility, and promote good digestive health. So I hope everyone out there is practicing their Marichyasana’s, they’ll help you live longer and keep you regular!!💩💩 ⁣.. And I think everyone wants that!! 😄⁣

Here’s a little playtime from the end of today’s practice session. I was playing around with some single leg crow transitions and dropping into wheel! ⁣
Not a great session today, I was a little shaky and couldn’t fully control the transitions... guess it’s the imperfect video to share on Instagram. 😅⁣

If you want to learn more about inversions or spend some time practicing with other yogis join me at the end of this month for an all-levels inversion workshop. 🚀🤸🏽‍♂️⁣

This year I decided to spend New Years Eve in Nashville with some family & friends, and I couldn’t be more happy about it!! 😅🥳💯⁣
I loved every minute of the trip, even spending NYE outdoors for a country concert in the cold. I’d happily do it all again... but maybe fly instead of drive. ⁣
😉😂⁣
Nashville is definitely a cool city and on my list for a return trip! ⁣

Here’s a little navasana➡️handstand work from today. 🚀🤸🏽‍♂️⁣
Can’t say that I’ve got it down but it’s a movement I’m finally starting to feel comfortable with.⁣
A great progression into this one is navasana➡️lolasana, it has just as many benefits and no risk of falling out of handstand.⁣
For me yoga isn’t about how many movements/poses I do, it’s about working with the few that will benefit me the most.⁣
