A little bit about me. :)
I was born and raised in Indiana - where I grew up swimming in our pool as a very young toddler. My older sisters taught swimming lessons in our pool every summer and I had the privilege of learning how to swim at a young age. I was swimming the full length of the pool when I was 3 years old. I started swimming competitively from the age of 6 years old until my freshman
year of high school. During that time, I finished 1st place in the 100 meter breaststroke, and finished 2nd place in the 50 meter breaststroke events at the Indiana State Championship Meet. My Individual Medley relay team was ranked 8th in the nation and was featured in βSwimming Worldβ magazine! It was many hours in the water, but I loved it! I attended college at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, where I graduated with my degree in Tourism Management. I had the opportunity to study abroad in Australia for a semester and also live on the Big Island in Hawaii for a summer! One of my semester courses I completed was for the Red Cross where I became a Certified Water Safety Instructor, where I learned all of the necessary skills to become a swim instructor. In 2009 my husband and I were married and I moved to Fontana in Southern California. My husband, Joe, and I enjoyed living in the sunny state where he was born and raised. I worked as a Corporate Meeting & Event planner and loved traveling the globe! Luckily our home was only 2 minutes from an outdoor aquatics center, so we were able to train for the LA Triathlon. In 2014, we were blessed with our son! He truly changed our lives. In 2015, I received my re-certification as a Red Cross-Water Safety Instructor at the Fontana Aquatics Center in Southern California, as well as my CPR, First Aid and AED certification. After having our son, it made me realize even more how important water safety was for infants and young children. I have always been very passionate about swimming and teaching children (and adults) how to feel comfortable in the water. As a newly stay-at-home mom, I started teaching babies and younger children through "Mommy & Me" group swim lessons, and private swim lessons. I traveled to client's homes and taught in their pool, as well as neighborhood community pools. Our son loved being the helper in our "Mommy & Me" classes. In March of 2016, our beautiful daughter was born and our family made the cross country move to Matthews, NC for my husband's job. Both of our kids loved the water and we would take them to our neighborhood pool, where I met many families and started teaching swimming lessons again. I travel to homes in the South Charlotte area to teach while staying busy with our two sweet kiddos who are now 5 & 7! I am very passionate about water safety and teaching children to swim. It's truly remarkable to see how fast they learn and how their confidence progresses after each lesson. I do feel that consistency is key to see the best results. Included in your swim session, you'll receive underwater photos, underwater videos of your swimmer, along with a certificate of completion. :)
** "Mommy & Me" classes are so much fun! Babies can be 6 months old to 2.5 years old for this class. Moms and babies get in the water, sing songs, play with toys, learn to float, splash, blow bubbles, kick, use kick-boards, go underwater, swim with underwater exploration and many other fun activities. We sing songs and play games all while learning swim basics in the water. Get your friends/kids together to start a group, or sign up and you can be added to a group. Dads can join as well.
** Private swim lessons are intended for children 2.5 years old to adults. Lessons can range from 5 - 10 sessions, each being 20 to 45 minutes in duration. I also focus on skills and techniques for swimming and stroke development, for the competitive swimmer, along with coaching teenagers to assist in obtaining their lifeguard certification. All lessons are customized to each individual client's skill set and development goals. I'd love the opportunity to work with you! Please contact me for pricing, as prices can vary based on your location, duration of class and number of sessions.
